In Apple TV+’s new series, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Elle Fanning plays a mother facing financial hardship who is willing to do anything to earn money.
Apple TV’s new series, adapted from Rufi Thorpe’s novel, follows a young woman navigating the challenges of single motherhood and financial hardship after dropping out of college due to an unplanned pregnancy. She turns to OnlyFans as a way to earn money quickly and unexpectedly achieves great success, but soon learns that fame comes at a cost.
The new Apple TV+ series, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, features Dakota Fanning in a compelling role exploring the challenges of motherhood, financial hardship, and the downsides of celebrity. The show boasts an impressive cast, including Fanning alongside Nicole Kidman, Nick Offerman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Marcia Gay Harden, and Greg Kinnear.
Margo, the daughter of a former Hooters waitress and a retired professional wrestler, recently left college to pursue her dream of becoming a writer. Now, as a new mother struggling with bills, she’s searching for a way to make ends meet.
Fanning shared her initial reaction to Thorpe’s book, saying she was immediately captivated after reading an early copy and believed it had strong potential as a television series. The comedy series is being produced by A24, along with Fanning and her sister Dakota Fanning’s production company, Lewellen Pictures, David E. Kelley Productions, and Nicole Kidman’s Blossom Films.
Michelle Pfeiffer will play Shyanne, Margo’s mother, who used to be a Hooters waitress and is now getting married to a youth minister from Orange County, played by Greg Kinnear. Nick Offerman will star as Jinx, Margo’s father, a former professional wrestler recently out of rehab. Nicole Kidman is reportedly playing an ex-wrestler who also works as a custody lawyer, though her role isn’t officially confirmed.
Actress Fanning has appeared in projects like Predator: Badlands, The Great, Sentimental Value, and The Girl from Plainville. She’s currently working on a packed schedule that includes the role of Effie Trinket in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, along with films titled Discretion, I Am Sybil, The Nightingale, and Rosebush Pruning.
Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles will premiere on the streaming platform on April 15, 2026.
