It’s no secret that a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland is costly. Prices keep going up, and right now, tickets are more expensive than ever. While I don’t like the increasing costs, I still believe a Disney vacation can be worthwhile.
Walt Disney World and Disneyland Raised Prices, Right On Schedule
If you’ve been following my stuff here on TopMob, you’ve probably noticed a trend. I wrote about Disney raising ticket prices last year around this time, and the year before that, the same thing happened! So, I wasn’t exactly surprised when I saw the news yesterday – yep, they did it again.
Disney announced price increases for most tickets at Disneyland and Disney World yesterday, likely because October marks the start of their new fiscal year. While the least expensive tickets remained the same, prices went up for everything else, including Park Hopper options, Lightning Lane passes, and certain Magic Key annual passes.
I don’t really agree with how much Disneyland and Disney World ticket prices have gone up. Over the past few decades, the increases have been much higher than typical inflation, making tickets quite expensive. However, you could say the same about many things these days.
Disney Parks Are Still A Good Deal
Despite the price hikes announced recently, there was some good news from Disney World. They shared plans to improve the Frozen Ever After ride with updated animatronics, and previewed other exciting animatronic projects. It’s reassuring to see that some of the increased revenue will be invested back into the parks.
Disneyland is now offering a special ticket discount, but it’s only available to residents of California. This is good news for locals, as it helps offset the recent price hikes at the park.
Disneyland or Disney World tickets are expensive, and honestly, so are tickets to things like NFL games or major concerts. It really hits your wallet either way.
Spending a day at Disneyland generally costs less than going to a football game. Although some tickets for Taylor Swift’s recent tour were similarly priced to Disney tickets, on average, they cost about the same. However, for the same amount of money, Disneyland provides many more hours of entertainment than the concert did.
As a big Disney fan, I’m really hoping they’ll pause on raising prices for a bit. I understand Disney needs to satisfy its investors and keep growing, but the parks have always been profitable, even when other parts of the company weren’t doing as well. Honestly, a day at Disney is still a special experience, and for me, it’s still worth the cost.
