Disney’s Latest Anime Project is Perfect For Star Wars Fans

For over a hundred years, Disney has created many of the most famous and cherished animated films and series ever made. However, most of Disney’s productions don’t fit the definition of anime. Despite this, Disney has already explored anime styles and continues to do so, often with impressive results.

Disney hasn’t produced a lot of anime, but Star Wars: Visions has been a huge hit. It’s already been renewed for a third season on Disney+, and it’s opening doors for more anime content overall, as well as more stories set in the Star Wars universe. Depending on how fans react to Star Wars: Visions: Volume 3, we might even see a full spin-off series based on it.

What Is The New Disney Star Wars: Visions Anime?

Premiering on Disney+ in 2021, Star Wars: Visions delivered a fresh and unique take on the Star Wars universe. The series features nine episodes created by leading studios and animators, offering something fans hadn’t seen before. Although the episodes aren’t always set in the familiar Star Wars galaxy, they appeal to fans of Star Wars and a wide range of other genres.

When Star Wars: Visions first came out, it was a huge hit, leading to a second season being made quickly. This second volume, released in 2023 with nine episodes, received even better reviews than the first. Currently, Volume 1 has a 96% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while Volume 2 has an impressive 100% ‘Fresh’ rating.

What Fans Can Expect from Star Wars: Visions: Volume 3

I’ve been following the new season of Star Wars: Visions, and it’s quite a show with studios like David Production, Trigger, and WIT Studio all contributing. However, out of the nine episodes, only six are completely original stories. The other three will actually continue stories we already loved from the first volume. For example, we’ll see a follow-up to “The Duel” with the Ronin returning for revenge in “The Duel: Payback.” We’ll also continue F’s story from “The Village Bride” in “The Lost Ones,” and there’s a continuation of “The Ninth Ninja: Child of Hope” planned as well.

“The Ninth Ninja: Child of Hope” builds on the success of the highly praised “The Ninth Ninja” from Star Wars: Visions, and marks the start of a new story within the Star Wars universe. This follow-up series will center on Lah Kara’s journey to find her father, and will reveal more about the unique vision of the Star Wars universe presented in The Ninth Ninja.

Star Wars: Visions is Just the Beginning of Disney Anime

Fans of Star Wars and Disney have even more to look forward to! On the same day as the release of Star Wars: Visions: Volume 3, the first episode of the anime adaptation of the popular mobile game Disney Twisted-Wonderland will also become available. While Star Wars: Visions and Disney Twisted-Wonderland seem quite different, their potential success could unlock exciting new creative possibilities, connecting them in a meaningful way.

I’m seriously excited about Disney Twisted-Wonderland the Comic: Episode of Heartslabyul! If it takes off even half as much as Star Wars: Visions did, I predict we’ll see a ton more Disney properties getting the anime and comic book treatment – way beyond what the mobile game already offers. Honestly, I think it’s only a matter of time before other beloved Disney franchises get their own anime adaptations or cool new takes. I know some fans might be hesitant about changes, but even if the adaptations aren’t perfect, it’s still fantastic news for all of us fans overall!

Star Wars: Visions: Volume 3 premieres on Disney+ on October 29.
