The popular Disney ride, Soarin’ Around the World, is getting an update for America’s 250th birthday in 2026, becoming Soarin’ Across America. Surprisingly, fans are excited about the change! Online, people are playfully suggesting that the ride’s new scenery should include familiar places like Home Depot and Olive Garden.
Okay, so Disney just revealed some cool updates for Soarin’! It’s always been an amazing ride where you basically feel like you’re flying over the world thanks to this huge screen and motion simulator. And get this – Patrick Warburton is the pre-show guy, playing the Chief Flight Attendant. Apparently, they almost got John Travolta for the part! Can you imagine? It’s wild to think about how different it could have been.
I absolutely love Soarin’ Around the World! It’s famous for its immersive experience, and I always got a kick out of how the Eiffel Tower seemed to bend in the old version because of the curved screen. It was so realistic! Someone on Twitter made me laugh by saying the same thing could happen to one of our American skyscrapers – it really highlights how convincing the effect is!
It’s almost certain the Statue of Liberty will be included in the Soarin’ Across America ride. Disney Imagineers will need to film it carefully to avoid the same problem happening again – getting too close could cause issues.
This raises a good question: besides the Statue of Liberty, what other landmarks will be featured in the new Soarin’ Across America ride? I’m predicting we’ll see places like the Grand Canyon, the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the Empire State Building, and possibly the Golden Gate Bridge, though the latter was already in the original California version. Interestingly, a recent post suggests a different, and potentially more distinctly American, set of locations.
Here’s a playful list of recently ‘announced’ locations, seemingly inspired by popular attractions and experiences: Times Square’s Olive Garden, a Bath & Body Works in Appleton, Wisconsin, Universal’s Epic Universe, the town of Forks, Washington (famous from the ‘Twilight’ series), Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, and AMC movie theaters featuring a cameo by Nicole Kidman. The date October 20, 2025 is also included, possibly hinting at a future event or release.
One of my favorite jokes about the new Soarin’ ride is a clever social media post that’s been going around. It reimagines an old Home Depot commercial as if it were a Soarin’ experience – and really, what could be more quintessentially American than a home improvement store?
Soarin’ Across America could easily feature different locations. For example, the ride could begin on the California coast, perhaps at Santa Cruz, or even in the fictional town of Santa Carla from the movie The Lost Boys. Another option would be to simply reuse some of the existing video footage.
Any video showcasing the essence of America will likely feature its extensive freeway system, maybe scenes from cities like New York or Los Angeles. And to truly reflect reality, it would also have to show the inevitable road construction that goes along with it.
The new attraction, Soarin’ Across America, is expected to open at both Epcot and Disney California Adventure next summer, probably around or before July 4th.
