Disney Just Spoiled Zootopia 2’s Secret Villain

Disney might have accidentally revealed the main villain in *Zootopia 2* before the movie even comes out! The sequel will follow Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they investigate a mysterious reptile causing trouble in the mammal city. But like the first *Zootopia* movie, there’s likely a bigger, hidden threat controlling everything that’s happening.

A recently released children’s book based on *Zootopia 2* may have hinted at the movie’s still-secret villain. Fans on Reddit noticed that the book introduces a new character named Pawbert, who appears to be the new threat Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde must confront.

So far, Pawbert, a character in the new movie voiced by Andy Samberg, has been presented as a relaxed and laid-back lynx living in Zootopia. However, it looks like his personality will shift at some point during the film.

A key part of the Pawbert storyline involves Nick facing off against the latest villain right on Tundratown’s weather control panel.

With Nibbles’s assistance, Nick successfully evaded the police. However, when he went looking for Judy at the Tundratown weather station, Pawbert ambushed him.

The book also hints at a side story where Judy is poisoned, and Gary helps her before they travel to Pawbert to find Nick.

Gary and Judy were back in the control room, and Gary huddled close to Judy to share his warmth. Thankfully, Gary always carried antivenom with him, which ended up saving Judy’s life. After the incident, they quickly went after Paawbert.

Finally, Nick runs out of options and jumps from the weather wall with Pawbert. Luckily, Judy and their new friend, Gary the snake, are there to catch them both.

I just saw Pawbert barely escape that fight with Nick! He quickly ran off towards a place everyone calls Reptile Ravine.

Nick had run out of options. The only way to defeat Pawbert was to shatter the ice and both fall through. He slammed his foot down, breaking it – crack! Luckily, Judy and Gary pulled Nick to safety. However, Pawbert managed to get away, heading for Reptile Ravine.

So far, the marketing for *Zootopia 2* hasn’t shown a clear villain, only a shadowy figure with striking yellow eyes. This could be the first clue that Pawbert isn’t who everyone thinks he is.

The sequel to *Zootopia*, titled *Zootopia 2*, is coming to theaters on November 26, 2025. Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman will return as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, respectively, as they investigate a new case involving a snake appearing in their city. The cast will also include Ke Huy Quan, Idris Elba, Andy Samberg, and other talented actors.

Why Is Disney Hiding the Zootopia 2 Villain?

Heading into Zootopia 2, there is still relatively little known about the animated sequel. 

So far, the trailers have mainly shown Judy and Nick searching for the new reptile arrival in Zootopia. But it’s still a mystery why Gary the snake showed up and who is trying to get rid of him.

While it’s been hinted that the Lynxley family—including Pawbert, their youngest—are heading the search for Gary, Disney hasn’t yet explained why.

The Lynxleys are a long-established and powerful family in Zootopia, known for their significant influence in politics.

It’s likely their eagerness to find Gary stems from a desire to stay in control and keep things as they are. Letting reptiles live in a city built for mammals could threaten their power and status in Zootopia.

We probably won’t find out this information until the movie comes out, as it’s a major surprise the filmmakers are keeping secret.
