We’re saying goodbye to Tinker Bell for the time being. She’ll be gone next week, and we don’t know when she’ll return.
Disneyland Reveals Refurbishment Plans for Pixie Hollow
According to DisneyFanatic, the Tinker Bell meet-and-greet in Pixie Hollow at Disneyland will close for renovations on August 4th. You can still meet Tinker Bell in Fantasyland before then, during her usual appearance times: 8:15 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every day.
Pixie Hollow has closed for updates before. Between late 2024 and early 2025, it was completely renovated. As part of those changes, a nearby area where guests used to meet Tinker Bell’s fairy friends was turned into a longer waiting line for the main Tinker Bell meet-and-greet.
Currently, the Disneyland Resort hasn’t announced when the Pixie Hollow meet-and-greet will reopen. Their schedule is available through September 7th, and it doesn’t list any return date for visiting Tinker Bell at Pixie Hollow, meaning guests won’t be able to see her there for at least another month.
Disney hasn’t said whether Tinker Bell will appear anywhere else in the parks while Pixie Hollow is being updated. As one of Disney’s most beloved characters, she’s been a regular sight for visitors for years, and many guests will likely miss seeing her at Disneyland during the refurbishment.
New Tinker Bell Project in the Works at Disney
The report about updates to Pixie Hollow arrived about four months after Disney announced plans for a Tinker Bell series. The show is currently being developed for Disney+ by Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter.
Tink, a beloved Disney character first appearing in the 1953 film Peter Pan, is getting a fresh new look. She previously starred in her own series of animated movies between 2008 and 2015, where audiences met all her fairy friends.
The new Disney+ series is based on an earlier, unreleased live-action movie called Tink, which was originally planned to star Reese Witherspoon as Tinker Bell. Disney worked on developing that film from 2015 to 2021, but it was never made.
Tink is just one of several upcoming live-action Disney movies based on beloved animated characters. The studio also plans to reimagine classic villains like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast with new films.
As a huge Disney fan, I’m excited to hear they’re continuing with live-action remakes of beloved animated films! They’re actually filming a new version of Tangled right now, which I think is fantastic. Plus, Chris Sanders – who I really admire – is working on a sequel to the live-action Lilo & Stitch, and that’s coming out in 2025. I can’t wait to see how they bring those stories to life again!
