Zootopia 2 just broke a 2025 box office record as Disney claims a major win over Warner Bros.
I still remember when Zootopia came out in 2016 – it was a huge hit! It ended up being the second-highest-grossing animated film that year, only surpassed by Finding Dory. Overall, it was the fourth highest-grossing movie worldwide that year, behind blockbusters like Captain America: Civil War and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It was such a fun and clever movie, and I was so excited to see it do so well!
As reported by Variety, Zootopia 2 has become the top-earning movie in North America for 2025, bringing in $424.2 million. This puts it slightly ahead of A Minecraft Movie, which earned $424.08 million. The animated film had already achieved record-breaking success internationally, earning $1.425 billion worldwide and $1.85 billion globally. Now, three months after its release, Zootopia 2 also holds the record for highest domestic gross.
