Director Tim Miller is preparing for his next film, seven years after his last one. He first gained recognition for his work in visual effects, but he became a household name with the 2016 hit Deadpool. Following that success, he focused on animated projects like the Love, Death & Robots anthology series and Secret Level. His most recent feature film was Terminator: Dark Fate, which aimed to revitalize the Terminator franchise and open up new story possibilities.
Director Miller is starting a new science fiction movie and is working again with Stefan Kapicic, a frequent collaborator. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Kapicic will join Keanu Reeves in the film, which is being developed at Warner Bros. The project is described as having a unique and imaginative premise, and the screenplay was written by Ian Shorr, known for his work on the 2021 film Infinite. While details about the plot are still under wraps, sources say the project is shaping up to be quite interesting.
The new film draws inspiration from both Edge of Tomorrow, the sci-fi movie starring Tom Cruise, and The Shallows, the Blake Lively survival thriller. It’s a surprising combination of those two genres, and with Keanu Reeves involved, the project is shaping up to be quite compelling. The addition of Stefan Kapicic is especially meaningful for director Tim Miller, as Kapicic previously played the character Colossus in Miller’s first film, Deadpool. He went on to play Colossus again in Deadpool 2 and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, though not under Miller’s direction for those sequels.

While it’s not official, The Hollywood Reporter believes Stefan Kapicic might play the villain opposite Keanu Reeves in the upcoming movie. Kapicic is known for playing Colossus, as well as roles in Better Call Saul and the horror film The Last Voyage of the Demeter. He previously collaborated with the film’s director on an episode of Love, Death & Robots, indicating a strong working relationship. Currently, that’s all the information available about the untitled film, which is set to be released on August 13, 2027.
Keanu Reeves and Stefan Kapicic lead the cast of the upcoming science fiction film, which also stars Callie Cooke, Steven Waddington, Nicholas Duvernay, Abraham Popoola, Anastasia Safonav, and Bobby Holland Hanton. Matthew Vaughn, Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett, and John Zaozirny are producing the film, with Scott Lumpkin serving as executive producer. Currently, filming is taking place in the Dominican Republic. As production continues, more information about the cast, characters, and plot is expected to be revealed. With the reunion of Miller and Kapicic, the film promises to capture the style of Miller’s previous movies while delivering exciting, visually impressive action.
