DCU’s James Gunn Offers Positive Paradise Lost Update to Wonder Woman Fans

James Gunn has offered a reassuring update regarding the Paradise Lost TV show.

I’m keeping an eye on “Paradise Lost,” one of the many DC Universe shows in the works. It was first announced way back in January 2023, but honestly, we haven’t heard much about it since. As of right now, there’s no word on when we can actually expect to see it air.

What did James Gunn say about the Paradise Lost show?

Rumors recently started circulating online that the TV show, Paradise Lost, had been canceled.

James Gunn recently clarified on Threads that reports about the show being cancelled are false. He confirmed it’s still in development, responding to the rumors with, “Definitely not.” He expressed his surprise at the amount of misinformation circulating online, saying he was shocked to see so many incorrect claims when he checked the platform for the first time in weeks.

Last year, Josh Gunn told Entertainment Weekly that the Paradise Lost series was still in the works, but progress was slow.

He said progress on Paradise Lost is steady, though it’s taking time. He also shared that he’s really passionate about the project.

When questioned about how the show fits into the DC Universe’s plans for Wonder Woman, Gunn clarified that it’s complicated. While a standalone Wonder Woman project is in development and currently being written, it is connected to the broader DCU. He emphasized this connection by pointing out that the character originates from Themyscira.

Currently, DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures haven’t announced a release date for the new Wonder Woman movie. This leaves it uncertain whether that film or another DC project will be completed and released first.

When announcing the 2023 television series Paradise Lost, Gunn described it as the story of Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s home island. He explained it would be similar to Game of Thrones, focusing on the people and politics of Paradise Island instead of a continent like Westeros.
