DCU Batman Reboot Director Reveals When We’ll Hear More About the Project

Originally revealed in 2023, The Brave and the Bold will introduce the new Batman for the DC Universe. Development has been slow, leading some to wonder if the director had left the project. However, the director of The Flash is still confirmed to be directing the Batman reboot, and DC Studios appears to be preparing a major announcement in the coming months.

While promoting his new show, It: Welcome to Derry, Andy Muschietti hinted at a timeframe for discussing his upcoming Batman movie, though he quickly admitted he shouldn’t have said anything at all. He stated they need to wait a couple of months before they can share details, then jokingly said, “I screwed it up already.” Despite some delays, Muschietti is still expected to direct The Brave and the Bold, but the film might be different from the original plans announced by DC Studios.

James Gunn has been discussing the progress on The Brave and the Bold script, which he’s developing with another writer. He sees Batman as a key character for the DC Universe and considers finalizing Batman’s role his biggest challenge at the moment. While Gunn isn’t writing the script himself, he’s been heavily involved to make sure it meets his standards. Given how long the project has been underway, some details may have evolved, and Gunn notes the title, The Brave and the Bold, is current as of now.

Currently, my biggest concern with DC Comics is Batman. I’m not actually writing the Batman comic myself, but I’m collaborating closely with the Batman writer to ensure it’s done well. Both Batman and Wonder Woman are incredibly important characters for DC, and right now, finishing the scripts for both of their stories is our main focus.
