DC Studios Reveals First Look at Darkseid In Official DCU Superman Project

DC Studios has finally shown fans what Darkseid will look like in their rebooted universe, and he’s definitely intimidating! Many fans expected Darkseid to be the main villain in the first phase of James Gunn’s DC Universe, titled Gods and Monsters. However, James Gunn clarified in October 2025 (according to IGN) that he doesn’t want to use Darkseid as the primary villain right now. Despite this, Darkseid will still appear in the upcoming animated series Mister Miracle.

After announcing the April 18th launch of Superman Experience: Defenders Unite, Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences and DC Studios have now shared a new trailer for the interactive event.

The trailer reveals our first glimpse of Darkseid, a major villain in the new DC Universe, at the 33-second mark. He appears as a hologram and seems to be launching an attack with the forces of his home world, Apokolips, against Superman and likely Supergirl.

Attendees of the Superman Experience: Defenders Unite event will finally get to see a detailed look at Darkseid, as the experience is building up to a showdown between Superman and this iconic villain.

This design is likely an early version of Darkseid for the DC Universe, but it still effectively conveys the character’s intimidating and evil nature. The quick glimpse we saw of it also hints that the final look may be different.

James Gunn’s version of Darkseid maintains the character’s iconic look: glowing red eyes, bright blue armor featuring the Omega symbol, and an imposing, powerful physique that makes him a match for DC’s strongest heroes.
