DC Studios is planning to start promoting its upcoming Supergirl movie soon, with marketing expected to begin before its release in 2026. James Gunn, co-CEO of DC Studios, is overseeing several projects for the new DC Universe, and Supergirl is currently the most advanced in development. This means Warner Bros. and DC Studios will be introducing Milly Alcock’s standalone film to audiences in the near future.
Warner Bros. is bringing previews of three new movies to CCXP 2025, a pop culture convention happening in São Paulo, Brazil from December 4th to 7th. According to Estação Nerd, one of these films will be the DC movie Supergirl, currently scheduled for release on June 26, 2026. You can find more details in the Portuguese-language report linked below.
Warner Bros. Pictures is planning an interactive booth showcasing three upcoming 2026 releases. These include ‘Supergirl,’ the new DC Studios film; ‘The Bride!,’ a fresh take on Frankenstein’s famous creation; and ‘Mortal Kombat II,’ the latest installment inspired by the popular video game series from New Line.
DC Studios showcased the upcoming Superman movie at CCXP last year, but their overall presence at the event was relatively small. The first trailer for Superman arrived about two weeks after the convention, on December 19, 2024. They might use a similar strategy to release the first trailer for Supergirl, though Warner Bros. hasn’t announced any specific dates yet.
The upcoming film Supergirl (previously known as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow) will be the second movie released as part of the new DC Universe being created by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Starring Milly Alcock, Jason Momoa, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham, the story follows Kara Zor-El as she travels across the galaxy with a young alien, seeking justice for a terrible tragedy.
When Will Supergirl’s First Trailer Be Released?

A new report from The Wrap suggests DC Studios might reveal the first footage of the upcoming Supergirl movie at a Comic-Con event this fall. If that happens, it would be before mid-December – a little earlier than when the first trailer for Superman was released last year.
It’s currently unknown if Warner Bros. or DC Studios will present at the CCXP event, so it’s uncertain whether we’ll see a trailer there. Given the film is about eight months from release, a trailer will likely be revealed before the end of the year, but details about what that first look will include remain a mystery.
A recent glimpse of a new costume suggests DC’s upcoming Supergirl movie will be heavily action-focused – a significant solo outing for the character in over four decades. Plus, with potential previews of Jason Momoa as Lobo or other future villains, excitement is already building for the Kryptonian heroine’s big screen debut.
