There’s a chance Zack Snyder’s vision for DC Comics movies could return, thanks to a recent development with Netflix. Snyder directed three films within the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). However, his original cut of the 2017 film Justice League wasn’t released until 2021, following a strong campaign by fans who wanted to see his version.

After Zack Snyder left DC, the franchise was restarted with James Gunn leading a new DC Universe. Despite this, fans haven’t stopped hoping Netflix will acquire the Snyderverse. Recent news that Netflix was considering buying Warner Bros. Discovery, the company that owns DC Studios, has given that hope a boost and intensified the campaign for a Snyderverse revival.

Netflix’s Interest In Buying Warner Bros. Discovery Has Heated Up

Rumors started circulating that Netflix might try to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery after its CEO, Greg Peters, hinted at the possibility. Bloomberg reported that Netflix and Comcast were both exploring a potential deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, which would include DC Studios.

It seems like comments from Peters about considering “all options” were hinting at something bigger. A new report from Reuters says Netflix is seriously considering buying Warner Bros. Discovery. To help with this potential deal, Netflix has hired Moelis & Co., the investment bank that recently advised Skydance Media on its purchase of Paramount Global.

Zack Snyder’s Latest DC Teases Are Fueling The Fans’ Hopes For The Snyderverse’s Revival

After finishing his work on DC projects, Zack Snyder has created several films and series for Netflix, using both live actors and animation. Although his upcoming movie, The Last Photograph, isn’t a Netflix production, the streaming service had previously considered acquiring the rights to his DC films. Also, Snyder was reportedly working on a fast-paced action thriller set in the LAPD for Netflix, but it’s currently unclear if that project is still in development.

There’s a chance we could see Zack Snyder’s vision for DC Comics return if Netflix were to buy Warner Bros. Discovery, especially if Snyder continues to work with Netflix. Many fans believe Snyder is subtly suggesting this possibility by recently posting pictures on social media of Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and other actors from the DC Extended Universe.

While Zack Snyder often posts old project photos online, I don’t think those posts necessarily mean his DC universe will return. However, with Netflix now able to see Warner’s financial details as they consider buying the studio, a deal could happen quickly, and Snyder’s vision for DC could become a reality again.
