The latest Batman series on DC has a clever explanation for the iconic blue and gray suit. In the eighth episode, titled “An Interview With a Batman,” Bruce Wayne attempts to raise awareness for Alicia Pennyworth’s villain rehabilitation program, E*Vil, during an interview with Vicki Vale. As part of the publicity stunt, Bruce publicly reveals his identity and dons the Batsuit.

The concept revolves around him acting as a stand-in Batman, giving villains a chance to express their frustrations with the Dark Knight. To fit this role, he wears a less imposing suit. This version is blue and gray, appearing more like something he made himself, and the brighter colors are a noticeable change from his usual Batsuit. The chest emblem also features a different bat symbol.

How Bat-Fam’s Blue And Gray Batsuit Compares To Other Versions Of The Costume

When it comes to live-action Batman costumes, the one worn by Adam West in the 1960s series is the closest we’ve seen to the blue and gray look from the Bat-Fam comics. However, the animated Batman suit is a slightly brighter blue than West’s, although the two are very similar overall.

When it comes to animated versions, Super Friends really nailed the classic character designs. Aside from the slightly more cartoonish style of the Bat-Family in the series, the two versions of the suits are very similar, with the main difference being that Super Friends gave the characters a darker forehead.

James Gunn has mentioned fans often ask for the classic blue and gray Batman suit in live-action films. With the upcoming Batman TV show, the DC Universe might decide to move away from its traditionally dark costumes and embrace brighter colors.
