DC’s upcoming Supergirl movie has a new tagline and just released posters featuring Krypto the Superdog. Coming almost a year after Superman, Supergirl is set to premiere in theaters on June 26th. The film will loosely follow the events of Superman and lead into Man of Tomorrow next year, continuing the story of Supergirl (played by Milly Alcock) and her energetic dog, Krypto.
DC Studios used a similar marketing approach for Supergirl as they did with Superman, featuring her at the Puppy Bowl, which highlighted Superman’s dog, Krypto. As part of this, they released a poster of a young Krypto wearing a collar with the Superman family symbol.

All of these posters feature the new slogan, “Watch Out Universe,” highlighting both Supergirl’s adventures across the galaxy and the dangers of interfering with Krypto.

As someone who just saw the latest DC offering, let me tell you, Krypto is a serious threat – we got a taste of that in Superman, where he really caused some problems for Corenswet’s Superman. Now, DC Studios has given us a sneak peek at how Supergirl responds to Krypto going after Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, and it’s a wild ride! They even threw in a fun nod to Lobo for good measure. It’s clear things are about to get chaotic, and I, for one, am here for it.

Previous slogans for Supergirl focused on her own power, but the new slogan, “Watch Out Universe,” seems to be about Krypto, the super-powered dog, and the trouble he’ll cause in the DC Universe. Interestingly, it should be Krypto looking out for himself when he returns in 2026, since Supergirl has already revealed he’s in serious danger.

Following the success of Superman’s marketing campaign centered around the phrase “look up,” Supergirl took a different approach with “look out,” immediately establishing Kara Zor-El as a force to be reckoned with.

One of the upcoming 2026 DC Universe movies uses the tagline “Truth, Justice, Whatever,” a phrase that will likely resonate with fans of Superman’s story.
Like previous iterations, Supergirl reimagines Superman‘s iconic phrases with a rebellious edge. This time, the classic motto “Truth, Justice, and a Better Tomorrow” is tweaked, continuing a trend within the DC Universe of moving away from specifically American ideals.

Before announcing Supergirl’s upcoming appearance with a “Look Out” message, DC Studios previously encouraged fans to “Look Up” in anticipation of Superman’s movie, which is scheduled for release in July 2025.

DC Studios presented Superman as the official launch of the DC Universe, using the slogan “It Begins.” However, despite the marketing, the DCU actually premiered several months prior with the animated series Creature Commandos, which debuted on HBO Max.

The second season of Peacemaker hinted at a storyline involving alternate universes with the question, “In what world is he the hero?” It was later revealed that the world where John Cena’s character, Christopher Smith, was considered a hero wasn’t a pleasant place, due to a surprising twist involving a dark version of Earth known as Earth-X.

The second season of the HBO Max series playfully referenced Peacemaker’s name with the phrase, “Peace it back together again.”

Okay, so it looks like DC is really leaning into slogans for their new universe, at least judging by what we’ve seen so far. I’m curious to see if that continues with everything else James Gunn and Peter Safran have planned, especially after Lanterns and Clayface hit screens in 2026. It’ll be interesting to see what taglines they come up with for the rest of the lineup!
Supergirl’s Slogans Highlight Her Differences From Superman
DC Studios intentionally used the marketing for Supergirl to clarify that Kara Zor-El isn’t just a female version of Superman. The trailer effectively highlighted the differences between the two Kryptonians, with Kara explaining to her companion, Ruthye, that while Superman focuses on the best in people, she prioritizes seeing things as they really are: “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth.”
Unlike Superman, who had a peaceful childhood in Kansas, Supergirl experienced a much harsher upbringing. After Krypton’s destruction, she grew up on a fragment of the ruined planet, making her a more cynical and world-weary character. The new DC Universe version of Supergirl will start as an anti-hero, a contrast to Superman’s traditional heroism, but she may evolve into a more traditional hero as her story unfolds.
Kara’s path forward might get a boost from her super-powered cousin, Superman. David Corenswet, who plays Superman, reportedly filmed a few scenes for the Supergirl series. While it’s likely just a brief appearance, like Milly Alcock’s cameo in Superman, his role could still help Kara learn what it means to be a hero.
Villains on Supergirl should beware! Kara’s dedication to doing what’s right – her belief in “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” – means she won’t let anything stop her from fighting for good.
