Original cast member David Chokachi will be back for the new version of the show. He’s returning as his popular character, Cody Madison.
Madison will be joining the cast, taking on the role of Hobie Buchanon. Hobie is the son of Mitch Buchanon, a famous lifeguard from the original Baywatch series (played by David Hasselhoff), and is also a returning character from that show, though played by a new actor.
The Baywatch reboot finds Cody running “The Shoreline,” a popular bar and grill connected to the Baywatch team. He still occasionally works as a lifeguard, and acts as a mentor and friend to the newer lifeguards, always treating them to free wings after a successful rescue.
Yasmine Bleeth became known for her role on Baywatch, joining the show in its sixth season and staying through season nine. She continued to appear in beach-themed projects, including the series Beyond the Break and the movies Psycho Beach Party and Soul Surfer. She also had a role in the film Atlantic Rim.
Original Baywatch Star David Chokachi Returns for Reboot
I’m so excited to hear that David Chokachi is joining the Baywatch reboot! He’s the second main cast member announced, following the news that Stephen Amell will be leading the show. It’s really starting to feel real now!
When Stephen Amell was cast, showrunner Matt Nix said he immediately brought the perfect qualities for this new take on Baywatch: a genuine heart, strong intensity, and a natural heroic presence. Nix explained that Amell is a lead actor who can handle both the action and the emotional depth of the role, while still keeping things light and entertaining. The team was thrilled to begin working with him.
With Chokachi coming back, fans are naturally wondering if other actors from the original Baywatch might appear in the reboot – perhaps as series regulars, guest stars, or even just for a quick appearance. The biggest question is whether David Hasselhoff will return, considering his character was Hobie’s father, but so far there’s been no news about that.
Besides Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Pamela Anderson is another likely star to appear in the new Baywatch series. She became famous for her role on the show, starting in the third season and staying for four seasons. Anderson’s career is currently enjoying a revival, and she recently appeared in the Naked Gun reboot.
Baywatch was a popular television show that ran for 11 seasons, beginning on NBC in 1989. For its last two seasons, the show was renamed Baywatch: Hawaii after production moved from California to Hawaii.
The show also led to a spinoff called Baywatch Nights, which lasted for two seasons. In 2023, Fox aired a Baywatch reunion movie. Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron later reimagined Baywatch as a movie in 2017.
Nix is an executive producer on the new Baywatch series, and McG will direct the first episode. Joining them as executive producers are Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto, and Mike Horowitz.
