The second season of Daredevil: Born Again has introduced a huge number of villains to the show, more than ever before. Starting March 24th on Disney+, the new season quickly reconnects with characters from the first season to show how their lives have changed since the finale. The first episode is filled with more bad guys than fans have seen in any previous installment.
The premiere of Daredevil: Born Again featured more active villains than any other season opener for a live-action Marvel show on Disney+. The first episode, “The Northern Star,” introduced seven villains, plus one additional character who could be considered a villain.
Okay, so Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is at it again! As soon as that weapons ship, the Northern Star, went down, he immediately jumped to blame Daredevil, calling him a terrorist. Seriously, the guy is so quick to use his power – he sent out his whole Anti-Vigilante Task Force to go after Daredevil right away. It’s infuriating to watch, but classic Fisk!

Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) remains a shrewd and independent force beside her husband, as demonstrated by her actions in the first season, where she often pursued her own agenda.

Joining the mix is Charles (Matthew Lillard), a new CIA agent who arrives in New York from Washington, D.C. He quickly proves to be a serious danger, even to Kingpin, and insists that the crew who recovered items from the Northern Star be eliminated to hide an illegal weapons transaction.
I was completely floored when he just shut down the city’s attorney general with one phone call! It was clear that call was connected to his relationship with Valentina – Julia Louis-Dreyfus is amazing in that role, by the way – and it showed just how much power he wields.

Daniel Blake, Fisk’s second-in-command (played by Michael Gandolfini), is living comfortably in a lavish apartment provided by Fisk. Meanwhile, he’s letting BB Urich (Genneya Walton) spread information that benefits the AVTF.

Let me tell you, Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman is chilling. He plays Fisk’s right-hand man, the guy who gets his hands truly dirty. In this scene, he’s tasked with hunting down the remaining crew of the Northern Star, and it’s brutal. He doesn’t hesitate to eliminate the captain – it’s all about tying up loose ends and protecting Fisk’s operation. It’s a cold, calculated move that really highlights just how dangerous this guy is.

Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva), who used to date Matt Murdock and now works for Fisk as a mental health commissioner, is fully embracing her villainous role. She’s currently manipulating a psychiatric evaluation of the captured vigilante, Swordsman (Tony Dalton).

District Attorney Benjamin Hochberg (John Benjamin Hickey) strongly pressured the team to drop the case, and he also tried to intimidate defense attorney Kirsten McDuffie (Nikki M. James) into giving up on defending the Swordsman.
Hickey previously was on Netflix’s Jessica Jones, but as an entirely different character.

Throughout the episode, Heather is haunted by hallucinations of Muse, a ghostly reminder of their past. Viewers will recall that in Season 1, Heather shot Muse three times after he broke into her office.

This number only includes characters who are actively causing conflict in the Season 2 premiere, not just those who appear or are hinted at in storylines to come.
Following that reasoning, Muse and Heather weren’t included in the initial Season 1 count because they weren’t acting as villains when the season first aired, even though they were both there.
When you look at all the villains featured in the first seasons of Marvel’s Disney+ shows, you might be surprised by who’s causing trouble.
Other MCU Disney+ Premiere Villains
Daredevil: Born Again Season 1

The first episode of the new season brings back Kingpin, following his appearances in the Disney+ shows Hawkeye and Echo. The episode starts with a shocking moment: Bullseye, played by Wilson Bethel, quickly kills Foggy Nelson.
Despite all the turmoil, Vanessa has become a shrewd and independent operator, running things on her own. She’s definitely not happy about her husband coming back into the picture.
Buck and Daniel return for Season 2, having made their debut in the first episode of Born Again. They’ve grown significantly since then, thanks to their training with Fisk.
Devlin, played by Cillian O’Sullivan, appeared briefly in the first episode of the series. However, it wasn’t until the robbery in episode 5, titled “With Interest,” that his character really stood out.
Ironheart

The first episode of Ironheart kicks off with a mix of gritty street crime and mysterious, magical elements, focusing on the villain The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos, also known as Parker Robbins. He’s the leader of a varied group of criminals, including a tech expert named John, who often goes by Cousin John (played by Manny Montana).
Robbins received support from skilled performers like Sonia Denis, known as the pyrotechnic Clown, and Shea Couleé, who goes by Slug. Providing the group’s physical strength are Jeri (Zoe Terakes) and Roz (Shakira Barrera), referred to as the “Blood Siblings.”
Many fans believe the standout villain in Ironheart wasn’t introduced in the first episode, but his appearance had been predicted by Marvel fans ever since WandaVision.
Secret Invasion

The first episode of Secret Invasion introduces a Skrull impersonating Everett Ross (played by Martin Freeman), and this connection quickly leads to the show’s main villain, Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir). Gravik is a ruthless leader who, operating from a place called New Skrullos, is determined to take back Earth.
Pagon, his top aide (played by Killian Scott), helps organize the Moscow bombing, demonstrating their readiness to use large-scale attacks to achieve their political goals.
The way Raava appeared as James Rhodes (Don Cheadle) is still considered one of the MCU’s biggest missteps.
Hawkeye

I was immediately hooked by the start of Hawkeye. We meet Eleanor Bishop, played brilliantly by Vera Farmiga, at this fancy, black-tie auction. But things quickly go south when the Tracksuit Mafia crashes the party – and Kazi, who becomes a really important figure throughout the series, is leading the charge on the ground. It was a chaotic and exciting introduction!
Ivan Banionis, played by Aleks Paunovic, and Tomas, played by Piotr Adamczyk, are the strongmen for the Ronin suit heist. They work together, using a mix of awkwardness and relentless force to chase down the person known as “Ronin.”
Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Okay, so the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier immediately throws you into this incredible action sequence. Seriously, it starts with a plane hijacking, and it’s not just any fight – it’s this amazing aerial battle with Batroc, who’s played by the awesome Georges St-Pierre, the UFC champ. It really grabs your attention right away!
As a big MCU fan, I’m used to seeing strong physical villains like Batroc, but this episode really threw me with Karli Morgenthau. Erin Kellyman is fantastic, and it’s clear her character, leading the Flag-Smashers, is going to be a major player for a while – this feels like just the start of a really complex storyline.
The latest episode ends with a big change for the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the government introduces John Walker, played by Wyatt Russell, as the new Captain America. Despite joining the Avengers, the series initially suggests Walker might become a key villain.
Loki Season 2

The second season of Loki starts with the TVA in chaos. Kate Dickie’s character, Dox, is heading a strict group focused on locating Sylvie and eliminating any new timelines, no matter the consequences.
Hunter X-5, played by Rafael Casal, helps her, and later expresses a wish to leave the TVA. However, at the start of the story, he’s still dedicated to Dox.
Even though Renslayer isn’t currently present, her past actions still have a major impact. A recently discovered audio recording reveals her plotting with He Who Remains.
During the second season, we learn that Renslayer was actually the one in charge of the army that won the battle across the multiverse and created the peaceful world ruled by He Who Remains. However, Miss Minutes later wiped her memory of these events.
