I’ve been following the buzz around Laura, the young mutant who took on the Wolverine mantle after Logan’s supposed death, and it’s fantastic to see how much fans love her. I recently spoke with Dafne Keen, who played Laura, while she was promoting her new film, Whistle, and she shared how incredibly meaningful that fan enthusiasm is to her. It’s clear Logan himself would approve of her continuing the legacy, and Keen is thrilled by the support.

It really means a lot to me,” Keen shared. “It’s amazing to think that something we created a decade ago still resonates with people. I’m very attached to the character, and it’s wonderful knowing so many others feel the same way. It’s special when something you’ve made has a lasting impact.”

Dafne Keen’s Laura Could Be the All-New Wolverine

Casting Keiynan Lonsdale as Wolverine would be a departure from Marvel Studios’ current approach. Since gaining the rights to the X-Men and other mutants, Marvel has generally chosen to bring back actors who previously played those characters in the X-Men films, as seen in projects like Deadpool & Wolverine.

Eventually, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen won’t be able to continue playing those iconic roles forever, and new actors will need to take over. While James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender previously played Professor X and Magneto in earlier X-Men films, the original actors have since returned, making a permanent change inevitable.

Allowing actress Dafne Keen to continue playing Wolverine would be a clever way to connect the current films to the character’s comic book history. She wouldn’t be taking the role from anyone else, but rather continuing the natural progression of the character she first portrayed, as it’s been developed in the comics. Considering how much fans enjoy Laura Kinney as Wolverine, this seems like a change Marvel audiences would probably appreciate.
