It’s amazing how much influence a few stories can have on our culture. H.P. Lovecraft, despite dying young at age 46 in 1937, created a lasting legacy with just around seventy short stories written over about eleven years. These stories have become incredibly influential works of fiction from the 20th century.
Robert E. Howard had an even briefer writing career, actively publishing only from age 23 until his death in 1936 at the age of 30. Despite this, his 21 Conan stories—17 of which were published during his lifetime—created a rich foundation for future writers to build upon.
