Clayface Cast: DCU Movie Eyeing The Handmaid’s Tale Star

The cast of the DCU Clayface movie is growing.

A new movie titled Clayface, from DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures, is set for release in 2026. This upcoming film will be helmed by director James Watkins and stars Tom Rhys Harries as the malevolent Clayface version of Batman’s adversary.

Who has joined the cast of Clayface?

Max Minghella is being eyed for a key role in the Clayface movie, according to Nexus Point News.

According to the latest news, there are rumors suggesting that Minghella might be considered for a role where he plays John, a character who is both a detective and engaged to Caitlin Bates. However, John becomes suspicious of his fiancée’s connection with Matt Hagen/Clayface.

According to a recent update from Nexus Point News, actress Naomi Ackie has been formally given the opportunity to portray Caitlin in the storyline. This character is set to be both Hagen’s romantic partner and his physician.

Minghella is primarily recognized for his role as Nick Blaine in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2021. He also gained recognition for portraying Divya Narendra in “The Social Network” from 2010, and his acting credits span “The Ides of March” (2011), “Horns” (2013), “The 9th Life of Louis Drax” (2016), “Spiral” (2021), and “Babylon” (2022).

The screenplay for the DCU’s Clayface film is penned by Mike Flanagan (known for Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House), as well as Hossein Amini. It’s been confirmed by James Gunn that this movie will secure an R-rating.

Previously, James Watkins has been at the helm for films like Eden Lake (2008), The Woman in Black (2012), Bastille Day (2016), and Speak No Evil (2024). He also directed the “Shut Up and Dance” episode of Black Mirror, and served as a second unit director for The Descent Part 2 (2009).

On September 11, 2026, Clayface makes its way to U.S. cinemas. Before that date, the upcoming DCU project is Peacemaker Season 2, which will be available on HBO Max soon, while both Lanterns and Supergirl are also slated for release in 2026.
