Amazon MGM Studios has released a new trailer for the sci-fi thriller Mercy, starring Chris Pratt (known for Guardians of the Galaxy) and Rebecca Ferguson (Dune). The film is scheduled to hit theaters on January 23, 2026.
The new movie follows a detective accused of his wife’s murder. He has just 90 minutes to convince the highly intelligent A.I. judge – a system he previously supported – that he’s innocent, or face the consequences.

What is shown in the Mercy trailer for Chris Pratt’s sci-fi movie?
The new video features Chris Pratt as a detective suspected of killing his wife. He’s in a race against time to prove his innocence, but the judge deciding his fate is an AI. If he loses the case, he’ll be sentenced to death. The trailer focuses on his complex investigation to uncover the truth about what happened to his wife. The film also stars Annabelle Wallis, Kali Reis, Rafi Gavron, Chris Sullivan, Kenneth Choi, and Kylie Rogers.
Timur Bekmambetov, who directed ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ helms ‘Mercy,’ working from a script by Marco van Belle. This is a reunion for Bekmambetov and actor Pratt, who previously collaborated on the 2008 action film ‘Wanted.’ The movie, rated PG-13, is produced by Timur Bekmambetov, Charles Roven, Robert Amidon, and Majd Nassif, with Mark Moran and Todd Williams as executive producers.
I’m a huge fan of Chris Pratt, and I’ve been following his recent work! I just finished watching him in ‘The Electric State’ on Netflix and ‘The Terminal List: Dark Wolf’ on Prime Video. But I’m especially excited to hear he’s returning to voice Mario in ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ – I can’t wait for that to come out on April 3, 2026! It’s going to be fantastic.
