Chris Evans’ Ghosted Surges on Streaming Charts Despite Poor Reviews

Despite being considered one of Chris Evans‘ weakest movies, Ghosted is currently a hit on Apple TV+. According to streaming tracker Flix Patrol, the 2023 film, which stars Evans and Ana de Armas, has climbed to the tenth most popular movie on the platform.

While Ghosted isn’t quite as popular as top films like F1 and The Family Plan 2, it’s performing similarly to movies like The Lost Bus and Greyhound.

The film, directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers, centers around Cole, a farmer and hopeful romantic who has what seems like a perfect first date with Sadie Rhodes (played by Ana de Armas). When Sadie suddenly disappears, Cole travels to London to find her, only to discover she’s actually a dangerous secret agent nicknamed ‘The Taxman’.

Throughout the movie, enemies start to focus on Cole, mistakenly thinking he’s a notorious figure called the Taxman. At the same time, Sadie’s job is threatened by a string of disastrous events. They eventually team up to battle a large criminal organization, and along the way, develop a strong connection with each other.

The 2023 film Ghosted received very negative reviews from critics. As of today, Rotten Tomatoes gives it a “Fresh” rating of only 24%, based on 119 reviews from professional critics. Viewers seem to like it a bit more, giving it a 55% approval rating on the site’s “Popcornmeter” based on over 1,000 user reviews.

What’s Next for Chris Evans on the Silver Screen?

Fans are excited for Chris Evans to reprise his role as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After a short preview of Evans as the character appeared online in December, the directors of Avengers: Doomsday, Joe and Anthony Russo, officially shared the full, high-quality version on social media.

The Russo brothers recently released a short teaser for Avengers: Doomsday, accompanied by a message about how much the film and its characters meant to them. They hinted at a return to a central story element. According to reports, this is one of four similar teasers planned for release, each focusing on a different important part of Avengers: Doomsday.

It’s unclear if Chris Evans will return as Captain America in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films after Avengers: Doomsday. However, rumors suggest the newest group of MCU heroes will continue appearing in movies for quite some time, even after the battle against Doctor Doom. Reports indicate a new project is planned that will build on the success of both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Ghosted is currently available for streaming on Apple TV.
