A new trailer for season 9 of 9-1-1 shows the 118 team responding to an emergency. In the clip (shared on TikTok by @the911onabc), Chimney asks Hen to participate in a search and rescue operation. While it’s not impossible for a paramedic to do this, it’s unusual for the lead paramedic to take on that role, especially since Hen has been dealing with a health issue for most of the year. Chimney has no way of knowing what’s happening with Hen, as she’s keeping it private. The show hasn’t offered many hints, but given her shaking and fainting, it could be a significant health issue. It’s interesting to consider whether the show will risk putting another main character in serious danger so soon after Bobby’s death, especially since they’re still facing criticism for that storyline.
Although Hen is expected to survive the incident, it might reveal a secret she’s been keeping from her team. Meanwhile, Chimney feels responsible for Bobby’s death and may now believe he should have noticed Hen was struggling with a personal problem. This creates a compelling storyline for him as he tries to prove himself as the new captain at the 118 in season 9 of 9-1-1.
While Buck steps into Bobby’s role as a leader, Chimney is the one who keeps things running smoothly for the team on a daily basis. Season 9 of 9-1-1 focuses on the growth and changes happening with all the characters, but Chimney’s development as a leader will likely have the biggest effect on how the team works together in the future.
