Cheryl Hines Is Still Upset About Her The View Appearance, And She Wants To Ask The Hosts One Question

Cheryl Hines is well-known as a funny actress from shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Suburgatory, and movies such as A Bad Moms Christmas. Recently, though, people have become interested in her for political reasons. Her marriage to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was the main topic when she appeared on The View in October, and after what she described as a difficult experience, she says she has a question for the show’s hosts.

Cheryl Hines appeared on The View to discuss her memoir, Unscripted, but the conversation soon shifted to her husband and his position as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. Later, on The Dr. Phil Podcast, the host questioned whether a man would face similar scrutiny if the roles were reversed – if he were asked to defend his wife’s political views. Hines responded by sharing her thoughts on how things might be different if the situation were flipped.

No, that doesn’t seem right. I was also wondering if I should ask about their husbands. Next time, I’ll definitely do some research on their spouses beforehand, just to be prepared and keep things fair.

Things got heated on the October 14, 2025 episode of The View, particularly when Sunny Hostin pressed Cheryl Hines about controversial comments made by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Although the hosts—including Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar—repeatedly pointed out that Hines didn’t make those statements herself, they often followed up by asking her to explain or share her thoughts on her husband’s actions.

The actress pointed this out, telling Dr. Phil:

It’s disappointing to see this kind of negativity, especially from other women. It wouldn’t bother me if they disagreed with my opinions, but I mostly just encourage people to vote – I haven’t even said who to vote for. I simply believe participating in elections is important, and that’s all I’ve ever expressed.

I was really interested to see Cheryl Hines on Dr. Phil’s show! She got a chance to address some things that were said, particularly after Sunny Hostin suggested RFK Jr. was the most unqualified person ever to be a Health and Human Services Secretary. Apparently, a lot of people don’t realize how few HHS Secretaries actually have medical degrees, and Cheryl was able to clarify that. You can check out the clip from The View below if you want to see it yourself.

Cheryl Hines seemed quite uncomfortable during the interview. Will she be invited back to The View to perhaps discuss the co-hosts’ husbands?

Whoopi Goldberg has expressed interest in having the guest return to the show, noting they rarely find visitors they can have such open and challenging conversations with. However, the guest previously suggested to Joy Behar that she wasn’t interested in returning, leaving the possibility uncertain.

We’ll have to see if that day ever arrives, but you can watch The View on ABC weekdays at 11 a.m. Eastern Time as part of the 2026 TV lineup. And if you’re interested in Cheryl Hines’ work, all twelve seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm are available to stream with an HBO Max subscription.
