Charlie Cox has responded to the increasing rumors about Daredevil’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With excitement growing for the upcoming ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ movie, the actor has clarified whether or not fans can anticipate seeing him reprise his character.
Charlie Cox is waiting for an Avengers call up
Charlie Cox was recently on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and addressed rumors about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Specifically, he was asked about appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday films, and he firmly stated he won’t be returning after his appearance in No Way Home.
The discussion moved on to Marvel’s upcoming major crossover event. However, Charlie Cox clarified that he hasn’t been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. When Jimmy Kimmel asked directly, Cox stated, “I don’t think so… as far as I know, I’m not involved,”
Despite his reservations, he didn’t completely rule out the possibility, pointing out that filming hadn’t begun and jokingly saying he was eagerly awaiting further news.
Filming for Doomsday began last year, with additional shooting scheduled for this year. However, reports suggest that actor Josh Brolin might be holding out for a potential role in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is also slated to film this year.
People have very different reactions to what Cox said. Some think he’s deliberately being mysterious, just like Andrew Garfield did before appearing in ‘No Way Home.’ Others believe him at his word, but a lot of fans still anticipate Daredevil making an appearance in a future Avengers film.
Charlie Cox first officially joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home after previously playing the character in the Netflix series. He’s since appeared in the Disney+ shows She-Hulk and Daredevil: Born Again.
The return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil, along with appearances by characters like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, has excited fans about the possibility of more team-ups within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Jon Bernthal already set to appear in Spider-Man 4, many are now hoping to see Charlie Cox join the cast as well.
