Chainsaw Man’s Reze vs My Hero Academia’s Bakugo? It’s Not Even Close

With both Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc and My Hero Academia Season 8 being major highlights of the Fall 2025 anime season, fans have naturally started comparing the most powerful characters from each series. It’s typical for anime fans to debate who would win in a fight, and the comparable powers of Reze and Bakugo make them an interesting pairing. However, while a battle between them seems balanced at first glance, a closer look reveals a pretty clear winner.

Bakugo Beats Reze The Bomb Devil Hybrid in a Fight Every Time

While the character in Chainsaw Man is powerful, when comparing abilities, she isn’t stronger than Bakugo from My Hero Academia. Bakugo simply has a greater capacity for destructive power.

Reze, also known as Bomb Girl, is incredibly strong. From the start of her storyline, it’s clear she’s far more physically powerful and resilient than an average person – she easily defeats a serial killer during a date with Denji. When she transforms into her Devil form, Reze can even create explosions to move at supersonic speeds.

Reze isn’t as powerful as Bakugo because her explosions have a limit. Throughout the Chainsaw Man manga, her most powerful attacks only reach about the level of destroying a large building. While she causes a lot of damage to the city, most of that happens when she fights alongside the Typhoon Devil. She never actually destroys anything bigger than a large building. Some people think she’s holding back, but even if she wasn’t, it would be hard to say she’s capable of destroying more than a city block.

I’ve been looking into Bakugo’s abilities, and he’s seriously powerful. His speed seems comparable to Reze, maybe even a bit faster, but where he really stands out is his destructive power. Based on the strength of the opponents he’s faced, some people estimate he’s at least City-level. It’s worth noting his biggest challenges, All For One and Shigaraki, are both incredibly strong – we’re talking Multi-Continent level threats in the My Hero Academia universe. Even though All For One was weakened during their fight, Bakugo still managed to win, which really highlights how well he controls his quirk and his incredible determination to fight through pain.

If Their Fight Takes Place In the Chainsaw Man Universe, Reze Stands a Better Chance Against Bakugo

A battle between Bakugo and Reze would be incredible to watch. Bakugo generates explosions using his sweat, and he can even detonate them inside his enemies. Reze is equally dangerous, able to detach her limbs or even her head and use them as explosive projectiles. Both fighters have the ability to surprise their opponents with unpredictable and unusual attacks.

Bakugo would likely win a quick fight against Reze. But that doesn’t mean Reze is weak. She’s a highly skilled martial artist and trained soldier, thanks to her background as a Russian military agent. In a fight that relied on skill alone, without any explosions, Reze would definitely be the victor, as Bakugo is still ultimately human.

Beyond their quirks, it’s important to consider their battle experience. Even after the eight-year time skip at the end of My Hero Academia, Bakugo might not be much older than Reze from Chainsaw Man. Although Reze’s exact age is unknown, many fans believe she’s actually quite old, but maintains the appearance of a young woman in her late teens or early twenties because that’s when she became the Bomb Devil Hybrid. Given Reze’s immortality, a prolonged fight would almost certainly result in Bakugo’s defeat, particularly if she has enough blood available to heal herself.

Reze’s abilities give her a surprisingly good chance against Bakugo if they fought in the world of Chainsaw Man. With a little preparation, she could make powerful deals with Devils, giving her the edge she needs to win. For instance, an agreement with the Darkness Devil would leave Bakugo completely unable to defend himself.

It’s tough to compare characters from different anime because they all operate under different rules and power systems. But if you just look at what they’ve done – their actual feats of strength – it’s pretty clear to me that Bakugo from My Hero Academia would win against Reze from Chainsaw Man about nine times out of ten. Now, whether Reze is a better character than Bakugo? That’s a whole other conversation, and honestly, I find her a lot more interesting and well-developed. But a straight-up fight? I don’t think there’s much to debate there; Bakugo would likely take the win.
