2025 was a breakout year for Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man. The release of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc was a major success, but the manga itself also saw significant growth. Part 2 of the manga revealed some of its biggest surprises yet, and the story is currently building towards its most intense battle so far.
With the announcement of the “Assassins Arc” continuing, Chainsaw Man Chapter 224, titled “Moon Spear, Spear,” felt like it could be a major moment for the series. It really seemed like Denji’s new transformation had pushed Yoru into a desperate situation, one that would require incredible power to overcome. But chapter 224 took all that anticipation and flipped it on its head – it felt like a huge joke, and it seemed like author Fujimoto was the only one who saw the humor in it.
Chainsaw Man Confirms Yoru is The Biggest Fraud in Manga History
The title of Chainsaw Man Chapter 224, “Moon Spear, Spear,” hints at the chapter’s main event. For weeks, fans have been speculating about what would happen next, following a major cliffhanger in the previous issue. The chapter culminates with Yoru, furious and preparing a devastating attack so strong it actually cracked the moon.
The recent events hint that Yoru might attempt to weaponize the moon. Since she effectively controls the United States, and the US previously claimed the moon by planting a flag there, she could potentially harness its power. This raises the possibility of Yoru becoming incredibly powerful, perhaps even capable of wielding entire planets as weapons in future chapters.
Chapter 224 of Chainsaw Man throws a curveball at fans expecting a massive display of power. Instead of transforming the entire moon into a weapon, Yoru cleverly turns just the American flag planted there into a spear. Yoru explains this makes “America’s claim to the moon” a targeting system! While some fans hoping for a larger-scale attack might be let down, this is actually a brilliant move by the author, Fujimoto. It highlights Yoru’s comedic nature and how she constantly subverts expectations.
Even with great strength and potential, Yoru won’t succeed unless she uses her abilities wisely. Her “American Flag Spear” is certainly powerful – likely because of the strong emotions people feel about the American flag – and can initially surprise her opponent. However, that advantage doesn’t last for long.
Denji and Yoru’s Final Fight Has Become a Huge Joke (and That’s a Good Thing)
The latest chapter of Chainsaw Man isn’t just funny because of Yoru’s elaborate prank. Chapter 224 takes the main battle of Part 2 and injects a lot of humor, turning serious fighting into comedic moments.
I watched as Yoru’s spear pierced right through the head of one of War Devil’s favorite minions, a Lion Devil. What happened next was pretty funny – Yoru flew into a rage, and Denji, completely bewildered, genuinely asked, “How is that my fault?!” It was a surprisingly light moment. It really struck me how Denji’s new power, becoming ‘Denji Man’, allows for this playful back-and-forth with Yoru. The story is full of intense, violent fights, so these little bursts of humor are a welcome break.
Yoru’s furious chase after Denji delivers a lot of exciting and fast-paced action. While not necessarily Fujimoto’s most polished artwork, it’s a clear step forward from his earlier style. The chapter has a wonderfully chaotic energy, reminiscent of classic Looney Tunes cartoons. Just like Bugs Bunny might suddenly produce a giant piano to thwart Elmer Fud, Yoru is wildly unpredictable and hilariously over-the-top, pursuing Denji with a spear that demolishes everything in its path.
Even though Denji’s surprising attack at the chapter’s end would have likely sent fans into fits of laughter, the Leg Devil had already been defeated, diminishing the impact.
Chainsaw Man’s Political Critique Reaches a Scathing Conclusion
The latest chapter of Chainsaw Man, number 224, features a particularly clever and artistic twist. Right when it seems Yoru is about to capture Denji, she unexpectedly falls. This moment subtly highlights the real focus of Part 2. But the real surprise is that Denji, in his hybrid form, has actually consumed the Leg Devil.
You know, something really cool pops up at the end of this chapter! When Denji tells Yoru he’ll totally disrupt her ‘perfect world’ if she doesn’t return Asa’s body, it’s surprisingly sweet, but it also got me thinking. It’s like, beneath all the craziness, there’s this whole theme of fighting against established order and demanding change – a real little revolution brewing! It’s a powerful moment, honestly.
Yoru has built the world she always wanted through constant warfare, a terrifying place where conflict never ends. She’s set everything in motion, and Denji poses a threat to her plans. While Denji also suffers consequences every time he consumes a Devil, he doesn’t have as much to lose because Yoru’s idea of perfection is already a living hell for him.
Yoru acts as a ruthless, power-hungry leader who’s brought global devastation, using the American Flag as a symbol of her control. Surprisingly, Denji still poses a threat to her, not because of any strength, but because he has nothing to lose. This idea – someone with nothing to lose challenging the established order – has been a recurring theme in Chainsaw Man, especially since the story began criticizing outdated leaders during the Aging Devil Arc.
Yoru’s prejudiced belief that Devils should rule over humans has led to a new world where Devils are in charge. Considering this, Denji’s decision to fight by ‘taking down the powerful’ feels ironic as the conflict nears its conclusion.
Chainsaw Man’s Latest Twist Reminds Fans They Can Never Walk in Fujimoto’s Shoes
Things are getting strange in the world of Chainsaw Man. Not only has the character Death been removed, but so have legs! Plus, Denji now has a collection of Devil-powered dolls that he can devour, effectively erasing them from existence. When the series returns on January 6, 2026, after a short break, it looks like the world of Chainsaw Man is about to become even more chaotic.

Yoru has always been a potentially formidable manga villain, thanks to her ability to weaponize anything she believes is hers. However, because her power relies entirely on her own perceptions, it’s easily influenced by her flawed thinking. The recent developments in Chainsaw Man highlight how Yoru’s biggest strength is also what makes her most vulnerable.
Despite a lot of pre-release excitement about Yoru’s power, it’s clear that Yoru didn’t live up to the hype and might be the biggest disappointment of the year in manga. However, this doesn’t make Chapter 224 of Chainsaw Man, titled “Moon Spear, Spear,” a bad chapter. Ultimately, it highlights just how creatively unpredictable and unique Tatsuki Fujimoto is as a manga author.
The latest chapter of Chainsaw Man really drives home the point that the author is fully in control. Fans have no influence over where the story goes, and predicting future events is practically impossible. Thinking you can predict what will happen next is even more far-fetched than Yoru’s fantasies.
The Chainsaw Man manga is available to read via Viz Media, Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump App.
