CBS’ Harlan Coben Docuseries Officially Returns for Season 2

The popular Harlan Coben docuseries is back! Season two of Harlan Coben’s Final Twist will begin streaming on October 5th.

CBS announced its fall TV schedule on July 27th. The new series Harlan Coben’s Final Twist will air on Monday nights alongside FBI and CIA, completing the lineup at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. The season will begin the week of October 4th, starting with new episodes on Sunday.

Harlan Coben Steps Further Into True Crime

Harlan Coben’s Final Twist debuted in January and features the popular mystery writer investigating actual criminal cases. The series highlights Coben using his talent for suspenseful storytelling to reveal surprising truths and unravel complex mysteries, much like his bestselling novels. It’s part of a growing trend of authors applying their skills to real-life investigations.

The show quickly gained popularity with both true-crime enthusiasts and fans of Harlan Coben’s novels. CBS renewed it for a second season in April, just two months after the first five episodes finished airing. The first season featured compelling mysteries like a family lost in a fire and a woman whose husband was shot while they slept. Details about the cases that will be explored in Season 2 are still being kept under wraps.

Harlan Coben is a well-known writer of mystery and thriller stories. Given the recent popularity of both his books and TV adaptations, creating a documentary to explore real crime cases feels like a natural next step for him.

Harlan Coben’s Successful TV Track Record

Harlan Coben is a popular novelist, and his stories are now gaining attention as TV series. His latest adaptation, I Will Find You, premiered on Netflix in June and stars Sam Worthington, Britt Lower, Milo Ventimiglia, and Erin Richards. Based on his 2023 novel of the same name, the series centers around a man who was wrongly convicted of his son’s murder, only to discover the son might still be alive.

With I Will Find You, Netflix adapted one of Harlan Coben’s novels with an American setting for the first time. Although Coben typically sets his stories in the U.S., previous Netflix adaptations of his work have primarily been filmed in Europe.

Currently, production is underway on a new series based on Harlan Coben’s popular Myron Bolitar novels. This could be Coben’s first time adapting a longer, ongoing book series instead of a self-contained limited series. The show boasts a strong cast, including Colin Woodell, Melissa Benoist, Chloe Fineman, Jabari Banks, and Jamie McShane, with recent additions KJ Apa, Diane Guerrero, and Ben McKenzie. The story centers on Myron Bolitar, played by Woodell, a former college basketball star who becomes a sports agent after a sudden end to his professional basketball career.

The second season of Harlan Coben’s Final Twist arrives on CBS Monday, October 5th at 10 PM Eastern Time. You can currently watch the first season on Paramount+.
