Clint Eastwood has been a major Hollywood star and director for more than fifty years, creating some of cinema’s most memorable Westerns, thrillers, and dramas. He’s particularly known for his work in crime films, both directing movies like Mystic River and starring in iconic roles like Dirty Harry. While often playing tough, no-nonsense characters, one of his best performances is in a lesser-known but fascinating ’80s murder mystery called Tightrope. This suspenseful and intriguing film, which combines elements of eroticism and detective work, showcases Eastwood’s range as an actor and is truly a must-see.

Netflix’s film KPop Demon Hunters recently returned to 2,890 theaters, but its performance has been disappointing. It earned just $600,000 by October 31st, and is expected to make around $3.4 million during its second weekend in theaters. This is significantly less than the studio hoped for, leading one distribution insider to tell Deadline that the film has likely reached its earning potential.

Born in Istanbul in 1953 as Baruh Djaki Karyo, the actor grew up in Paris and received classical theater training with the Daniel Sorano company, later performing at the National Theatre of Strasbourg. He transitioned to film in the 1980s, achieving early recognition in the 1982 film La Balance. His performance earned him a César Award nomination and set the tone for his compelling and dramatic roles over the next forty years.

In the film The Cut, Orlando Bloom portrays an unnamed Irish boxer who comes out of retirement hoping for one last championship. To be able to compete, he has to endure a severely strict and punishing weight loss program. When TopMob asked Bloom about the film’s limited boxing action, he explained:

It’s tempting to nitpick when rewatching a favorite show, and the first season of How I Met Your Mother definitely has some issues. The pilot episode is actually quite strong, but even that early success hints at a problem that becomes apparent later in the series.

The trailer for season 5 starts to reveal some of this backstory, especially concerning Vecna, the show’s central villain.

Despite its intense and graphic violence, especially towards the end, Midsommar was a hit with both critics and audiences. Before the film came out, there was debate about whether it would receive an NC-17 or R rating, with the filmmakers hoping for the more lenient R rating to ensure wider viewership. For over five years, Midsommar‘s shocking imagery and extreme scenes have been a benchmark in horror. Now, with the release of Bugonia, director Yorgos Lanthimos seems poised to once again unsettle and disturb audiences, as he’s known for doing.

Even though Halloween has passed, the spooky season often extends a bit longer, so let’s look at one last great horror story. This will be the perfect conclusion to our month of exploring chilling tales, including previously discussed works, and will cap things off nicely with the collaboration between Scott Snyder and Stephen King.
