Premiering on June 24, 2015, Mr. Robot features Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity expert and hacker who fights for justice. The show was groundbreaking for its realistic portrayal of difficult topics like mental health, addiction, and trauma. As a total film and TV buff, I’ve always been impressed by HBO’s shows. They consistently deliver stories that are both beautifully made and really thought-provoking, tackling subjects you just don’t see everywhere else. What really sets them apart, though, are the characters – they feel so real and complex. And the acting? Some of their casts are just incredible. I mean, shows like Veep and Band of Brothers have performances that are practically flawless, and that’s saying something, because there are a lot more where those came from.

Saturday Night Live’s ‘Weekend Update’ began as usual with jokes about Trump and the news, but things got interesting when Colin Jost made a playful jab at Michael Che. Jost joked about Che’s movie, Hold Up, Madea Got A Daughter?!, receiving no Golden Globe nominations. You can see the moment here…

When The Curse of the Black Pearl came out, it didn’t feel like the beginning of a big series, but it was a huge success and even received some Academy Award nominations. The following movies made even more money, though critics weren’t as impressed. Interestingly, many fans consider the first sequel to be the best Pirates of the Caribbean film.

Keanu Reeves’s movie, Johnny Mnemonic, is coming to Netflix on January 1, 2026. First released in 1995, the film takes place in a dark and technologically advanced future – our 2021 – where powerful corporations rule. Reeves plays a data courier with a special brain implant that lets him store sensitive information. However, there’s a catch: the data is lethal, and he has just 48 hours to deliver it or it will kill him.

Despite being removed from cinemas quickly due to controversy over its portrayal of a Santa Claus-suited killer, the original Silent Night, Deadly Night became a beloved cult film and inspired a series of sequels. There have been seven Silent Night, Deadly Night movies made in total, but only the first two films and the two remakes were shown in theaters.

With the holidays here, I like to seek out some unique Christmas movies alongside the classics. Netflix has released a lot of well-received films this year, so I was curious if their new movie, A Merry Little Ex-Mas, would appeal to me. I was especially interested because, like the couple in the film, I also experienced a divorce during the holiday season.
