Josh Gad appears as a fictionalized version of himself in the Disney+ series Marvel Spotlight, which debuted on January 27th. He stars alongside actor Bryon Bowers, who plays a superhero character named DeMarr “Doorman” Davis. In the fourth episode, Gad and Bowers filmed a bank robbery scene for a movie called Cash Grab 2. Gad attempted a stunt where he would jump through Doorman’s body into a strange, dark dimension, but the stunt went wrong, and he seemingly became trapped. This led to a clever marketing campaign using hashtags like #WhereIsJoshGad, making it seem like the actor had actually disappeared and blurring the line between the show’s fictional world and reality.

Years ago, Jim (shown in memories as a younger man played by Bryn Chapman Parish) moved away from Hannah, her sister, and their mother in Adelaide. He wanted to live freely as a gay man in a more accepting city.
