I’ve been following Emerald Fennell’s work as a director, and it’s been fascinating to see her take on increasingly ambitious projects – from a small, acclaimed Sundance film with a $10 million budget, to a big, stylish thriller set in the 2000s, and even a classic novel adaptation. But I’ve been wondering which of these films is actually her best. So, I decided to rank all three, from what I think is the weakest to the strongest.

She’s known for her roles in popular shows like HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus, and films such as Anyone but You and The Housemaid. Because fans love her and think she’d be a great fit for the DC Universe, artists are creating images of her as different DC characters.
The Hulu series created a lot of drama and negativity, as the troubled characters Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) and Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) caused chaos for those around them over an eight-year period.
The German series Dark begins as a mystery about missing children in the town of Winden, but quickly expands into a complex story involving time travel. It’s a dark and atmospheric show with a very intricate plot that requires multiple viewings to fully understand. This complexity is what makes Dark so unique and compelling.
I just finished watching the new sitcom, and it’s a really clever mockumentary. Daniel Radcliffe is fantastic as Arthur Tobin, a successful documentary filmmaker who gets it into his head to follow the story of Reggie Dinkins – a former NFL player who’s fallen from grace, played brilliantly by Tracy Morgan. What’s even more exciting is that the creative team behind 30 Rock – Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Sam Means, Eric Gurian, and David Miner – are all involved as executive producers. And though he wasn’t part of 30 Rock, executive producer Rhys Thomas is a Saturday Night Live veteran, so you know the humor is in good hands.
Romantic comedies don’t usually require huge budgets, which is why there’s a steady stream of independent films in the genre. Many of today’s best rom-coms, like Set It Up, Rye Lane, and I Want You Back, are made this way. And one recent film is a particularly fantastic, yet surprisingly underappreciated, example.
Mark Wahlberg often takes on complex characters, including those who operate outside the law. In films like Play Dirty, he plays Parker, a thief with a surprising sense of honor. He’s also portrayed outright villains, such as Daniel Lugo in Pain & Gain, a character who aggressively pursues his ambitions at others’ expense, and a thief in The Italian Job. Wahlberg frequently plays characters like cops and soldiers – seen in movies like The Departed, Spenser Confidential, and Max Payne – who are flawed but still try to do what’s right, often walking a difficult line.
James Gandolfini’s incredible performance as Tony Soprano, combined with the show’s impressive 21 Primetime Emmy wins, established The Sopranos as HBO’s greatest series ever.
