I’m really enjoying Nicola Coughlan’s playful attitude! Calling the switch between her hair color and Penelope’s ‘Wig Inception’ is a funny way to describe how it’s happened twice now. It’s a clever nod to the movie Inception and shows how good-humored she is about playing Penelope in Bridgerton. I can’t wait for the next season!
The actress, known for her role in Doctor Who, revealed she’s naturally blonde but has worn red wigs for years while playing one of the Featherington sisters in the Netflix series. Interestingly, her character, Penelope, will switch to a blonde wig in the fourth season. So, she’s a blonde actress playing a redhead who will be seen wearing blonde hair – it’s a bit confusing, isn’t it?
It will be fascinating to see how central Penelope Featherington’s story is in the fourth season of Bridgerton. Last season focused heavily on her relationship with Colin and the resulting tension with her friend Eloise, caused by Penelope’s secret as Lady Whistledown. Previous seasons’ main characters took a backseat once their stories concluded, so fans are wondering if Penelope will have a similar fate. Hopefully not, especially with her striking new appearance.
Fans are hoping Penelope’s reveal as Lady Whistledown ensures she’ll remain a key character, even with a new narrator like Julie Andrews. They’re also eager to see her friendship with Eloise continue when the show’s fourth season arrives on Netflix.
