As a longtime fan, I have to say Season 4 of Bridgerton felt like coming home – it had all the warmth and passion we’ve loved since the very first season back in 2020. We got to see another Bridgerton sibling find their person, enjoyed Lady Violet’s spot-on advice, and watched all the usual drama unfold amongst London’s elite as they navigated society and the marriage game. But this season also felt fresh, especially with the captivating romance between a maid and someone from a higher social class. Now, we know who will take center stage in Season 5, and Netflix is shaking things up again. Honestly, it’s exactly what the show needs!
Life is full of surprises, but one thing we can always count on is a new season of Bridgerton. And like the seasons before it, we can expect beautiful music, charming romantic moments, and amazing connections between the characters. ‘Bridgerton’ Season 5 Will Feature Francesca and Michaela’s Romance

As a huge fan of Bridgerton, I was so excited when Netflix announced seasons 5 and 6! Everyone immediately started wondering which Bridgerton sister would take center stage next. Would it be Francesca or Eloise? Well, thanks to the little sneak peek Netflix dropped on March 24th, we finally have our answer: Season 5 will focus on Francesca Bridgerton and her romance with Michaela Stirling. I’m already counting down the days!
With the fifth season drawing from Julia Quinn’s sixth book, When He Was Wicked, viewers have been curious about a potential romance between Francesca and Michaela. The book actually pairs Francesca with Michael, John’s cousin. Some fans hoped that if Eloise had been the focus of Season 5, Francesca and Michaela’s story could be explored in Season 6. But it’s exciting that their relationship is being featured now.
Season 5 of Bridgerton will include the show’s first same-sex romance, a significant and exciting development for the series. According to actress Baduza in an interview with Netflix Tudum:

It’s so important for LGBTQ+ folks to see themselves represented with joy and to know that they deserve fulfilling, loving relationships, just like anyone else. I really agree with what Russell T Davies said – for so long, we haven’t seen LGBTQ+ love stories in historical dramas, and it’s just wrong. Queer people have always been around, and we deserve to see ourselves represented with the same beautiful, complex love stories as everyone else. It’s about time!
The short preview shows Francesca and Michaela standing side-by-side, admiring a lovely view, before their hands gently touch. While the preview doesn’t reveal much about the story, it does confirm the new season will jump forward two years in time. This allows Francesca to have moved past the initial grief of losing her husband, John Stirling, and be open to finding love again. However, she’ll likely still miss him deeply. Because Michaela is related to John, she understands Francesca’s pain, creating a natural connection between them during this difficult time.
Seeing Francesca and Michaela connect so well in Season 4 of Bridgerton feels like a logical next step for their relationship. With a two-year gap since we last saw them, it raises a lot of questions: Have they stayed in contact, or is this their first time seeing each other since Michaela moved away? And what has each of them been up to in those two years?
For several seasons, Eloise Bridgerton has stood out as the sibling who’s least interested in finding a partner, and we can look forward to her witty and independent spirit continuing in the new season. While it will be enjoyable to see Eloise take a leading role in Season 6 – she’s a truly unique and intelligent character – this season really feels like Francesca’s time to shine. With her storyline focusing on grief and learning to move on, Bridgerton promises a deeply touching love story.
Although the exact release date is still unknown, filming for Bridgerton Season 5 has officially begun, according to Netflix. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too long for the next chapter of this popular love story.
