The series Wonder Man premiered on Disney+ earlier this year as part of the MCU’s Phase Six and quickly received widespread critical acclaim, with many calling it one of Marvel’s best shows. The positive response led to a second season renewal, even though the studio wasn’t initially sure about the project. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Sir Ben Kingsley will return as Simon Williams and Trevor Slattery, continuing their story within the world of filmmaking and encountering influential figures in Hollywood. Bob Odenkirk has expressed interest in potentially joining the cast as well.
The first season of Wonder Man included appearances by celebrities playing exaggerated versions of themselves, like Josh Gad (still stuck as Doorman) and Joe Pantoliano (as a former rival of Slattery’s). The upcoming season will likely feature more famous faces, but it’s unclear who they will be. There was previous speculation that Bob Odenkirk might play Neal Saroyan, Simon Williams’ manager, but Ed Harris ultimately took on that role in the first season.

Recent rumors about Bob Odenkirk joining the cast of Wonder Man were untrue, but he recently clarified the situation with The Direct at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival. He confirmed he never discussed a role in the series. However, Odenkirk, who previously said he didn’t think he’d fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now seems open to the idea of joining the franchise in the future. He reiterated that the initial reports were false, but left the door open for potential MCU involvement.
Oh, no, no, no… Wonder Man, is that the new movie? I saw an ad for it, and it looked really good. And no, I hadn’t heard that rumor before. That actually sounds like a lot of fun.
Odenkirk enthusiastically said he’d be very interested in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He praised the talented actors and hardworking team behind the films, especially Kevin Feige, whom he’s met and considers a good person. He’s impressed with how Marvel continues to expand and build its universe.
Bob Odenkirk has proven he’s more than just a comedy star. He’s successfully moved into action roles with films like Nobody and Normal, making a role in a superhero universe quite possible. While it’s unclear which project or character he might play, the renewed series Wonder Man, which focuses on the movie industry within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, seems like a good fit. He could potentially play a prominent Hollywood figure, or even a version of himself. However, there are currently no reports of him being in negotiations with Marvel.
This is a developing story…
