A thrilling new trailer for what’s shaping up to be a fantastic martial arts film has just been released. It shows off exciting sword fights and incredible kicks, and it marks the comeback of a beloved action movie star.
The film Blades of the Guardians is based on the comic by Xianzhe Xu and features the legendary Yuen Woo-ping. He’s a highly influential figure in action movies, known for directing and choreographing fights in classics like Drunken Master, Fist of Legend, The Matrix, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Kill Bill, and The Grandmaster, all of which have significantly impacted how action is filmed today.
This action movie brings together martial arts stars from different eras. It features a veteran actor in one of his biggest action roles in years, alongside popular modern stars like Wu Jing (known for The Wandering Earth and Meg 2: The Trench), Nicholas Tse (Raging Fire), and Max Zhang (The Grandmaster). The film also includes strong performances from established actors Tony Leung Ka-fai (Election) and Kara Wai (My Young Auntie). Check out new photos and a summary of the plot for Blades of the Guardians below.
BLADES OF THE GUARDIANS is set in ancient China during the reign of the cruel Emperor Yang Guang. The story follows Biao Ren, a talented mercenary, as he travels through the dangerous deserts of the Western Regions. What starts as a straightforward escort job soon pulls him into a treacherous plot filled with unexpected dangers.
Jet Li Is Back in ‘Blades of the Guardians’

Fans are excited to see Jet Li return to acting after a long break, having been largely absent from films since 2008. Known for classics like Fearless, Kiss of the Dragon, The Expendables, Hero, and Fist of Legend, Li is diving back into the world of wuxia – Chinese martial arts films – with his signature skill and energy. His appearance in Blades of the Guardians is expected to be a major draw, and audiences are eager to see him bring his intense style to the screen once again.
The trailer for the film, featuring Jet Li’s return to acting, highlights a focus on realistic, impactful martial arts. Instead of relying on special effects, Blades of the Guardians emphasizes intense, physical choreography where fights feel weighty and have real consequences – characters are visibly affected by the violence.
