Black Phone 2 Ending & Grabber’s Fate Explained

The horror sequel, *Black Phone 2*, directed by Scott Derrickson, is now playing in theaters, and audiences are eager to understand how the story concludes. Since the main villain, “the Grabber,” died in the first film, viewers are asking if this new movie truly wraps up his story.

Here are the details on what happened at Black Phone 2’s ending.

What happens to Grabber in Black Phone 2’s ending?

The sequel to The Black Phone differs from the first film by presenting the villain as a supernatural being, rather than a human serial killer. Four years after the original story, Finney and Gwen are still dealing with the aftereffects of their traumatic experience. Gwen, who inherited psychic abilities from her mother, begins having disturbing visions of injured children and the Grabber, which ultimately leads them to a winter camp called Alpine Lake.

Gwen discovers through her visions that the key to defeating Grabber and taking away his powers lies in finding the remains of the three children he killed years ago – children whose bodies were never recovered. With assistance from the camp director and others, they successfully locate and bury the missing children, finally bringing them peace.

After a frightening showdown, Finney and Gwen were able to overcome the Grabber, causing him to fall through the ice and drown in the frozen lake.

Do Finney and Gwen live or die in Black Phone 2?

Finney and Gwen both survive their ordeal at the camp. After they defeat the Grabber, Gwen goes to the phone booth and receives a strange call—one only she can hear. When she answers, it’s her mother on the line.

It was a real gut punch learning the Grabber had also hurt my mom, so seeing him finally defeated felt like she could rest easy. Then, during a call, she reached out to Gwen and told her those psychic abilities weren’t something to fear, but a gift. Honestly, it was incredibly moving and gave the whole family the closure we desperately needed.

Black Phone 2 is currently running in cinemas.
