Recent concept art shows what Bizarro Superman would have looked like in a DC video game that was ultimately canceled. The artwork emphasizes the character’s frightening appearance and provides a look at some of the ideas that didn’t make it into the finished game.
How Bizarro Superman could’ve looked in a canceled DC game
Concept artist Jerad S. Marantz recently shared an early design for Bizarro Superman that he created for a DC video game project which was ultimately cancelled. He posted the artwork on Instagram on September 15, 2025, explaining that he aimed for a straightforward and uncomplicated look for the character, as he’s a big fan of Bizarro.
Marantz said his design was influenced by both Alex Ross’s artwork and the Superman animated series, combining elements from both to create his version. He noted that these were his favorite interpretations of Bizarro over the years.
He explained that he usually works at a very quick pace. He often creates designs so rapidly that he doesn’t have time to gather references beforehand. Interestingly, he often realizes a few days after completing a design what images or ideas he must have subconsciously used as inspiration.
Bizarro is depicted with gray skin, noticeable scars on his face, and a reversed version of Superman’s iconic ‘S’ shield on his chest and cape. This design creates a monstrous, Frankenstein-inspired appearance while still referencing Superman’s classic costume. Artist Marantz shared, “Growing up with these characters, they really became a part of who I am.”
People reacted enthusiastically to the reveal in the Instagram comments. One fan compared it favorably to Bizarro from *Superman: The Animated Series*, saying, “I love how the proportions are so close.” Another commenter praised the physique, adding, “Those 2 Bizarros are my favorite too. I love your take, you really nailed it.”
The Bizarro design is the latest piece of artwork Marantz has shared from DC projects that were ultimately canceled, alongside alternate versions of Batman and King Shark. Marantz has confirmed this material comes from a WB Games project that was stopped before completion, though the exact title of that project remains unknown.
