The new five-part documentary, Born to Bowl, which Ben Stiller helped produce, has launched with a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Ben Stiller is famous for his roles in popular comedies like There’s Something About Mary and Meet the Fockers. However, he’s become a very busy producer lately, with around 13 projects in development where he’s credited as an executive producer. His newest project is already receiving excellent reviews.
I just heard about this new sports documentary, Born to Bowl, and it’s getting amazing reviews! Right now, it has a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which is incredible. Though, it’s only based on five reviews so far, so that could change as more people share their thoughts. We haven’t seen what audiences think yet, as there’s no audience score available at the moment.
What Is Born To Bowl About?
Born to Bowl is a documentary that follows five of the best professional bowlers – Kyle Troup, Anthony Simonsen, EJ Tackett, Cameron Crowe, and Jason Belmonte – as they compete for championships and earnings on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour.
Narrated by Liev Schreiber, known for his roles in Ray Donovan and the Scream movies, the five-part docuseries Born to Bowl concludes on Monday, March 30th. The series explores the uniquely American tradition of bowling, a pastime filled with pop culture connections, and reveals the surprisingly old history behind this unusual sport.
This documentary series, in the style of other HBO Sports films, follows professional bowlers on tour as they travel from competition to competition. While life on the road isn’t always luxurious – bowlers often share rooms to save money – each athlete is truly passionate about the sport.
What Are Critics Saying About Ben Stiller’s New Docuseries?
James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte directed Born to Bowl. Robert Lloyd of the Los Angeles Times praised the filmmakers for clearly showing what’s at emotional risk in the story, and Scott Hines of Decider highlighted the docuseries’ appealing and heartwarming nature.
Most people seem to like the film, with many saying you don’t even need to be a bowling fan to enjoy Born to Bowl. Given that the movie focuses on a fairly specific topic, that’s probably the highest praise it could receive.
Born to Bowl airs Mondays on HBO and streams on HBO Max.
