Be Still My Beating Heart: Charlie Cox Admitted He FaceTimes His Young Son In His Daredevil Costume

As a huge fan, one of the things I really appreciate about Charlie Cox is how fully he’s committed to playing Matt Murdock, Daredevil. He’s always talking about the intense physical work he puts in for the role, and how he immediately felt connected to the part when he first got the Netflix show. It’s amazing to hear how dedicated he is – he even stays in character for his own kids, calling them while in the Daredevil costume when he’s on set! Now you can see all of his hard work and dedication for yourself on Disney+.

He shared that his son genuinely thinks he’s a superhero, and it’s incredibly sweet to imagine having that kind of magical connection with your child. He told a fellow Marvel actor in an interview with Variety about dressing up as his character for his 5-year-old while on set.

It’s the cutest thing – my son honestly thinks I’m a superhero! I love FaceTiming him while I’m all suited up in the costume. Seeing his face light up, his eyes getting so wide… it just makes my day.

Wow, Charlie Cox seems like a great dad! While I’m sure he and his wife are very happy together, she’s really landed a good one. He probably learned a lot from other famous dads who’ve always gone above and beyond for their children.

Some celebrity parents really go all out for their kids! For example, Ben Affleck once went to great lengths to get a Batman costume for his son Samuel’s birthday. And recently, the director of Spider-Man: Brand New Day shared that he playfully ‘brainwashed’ his son by encouraging him to say ‘Spider-Man’ as his first word – whether by chance or design, it’s a sweet story.

During a 2025 interview, Marvel’s Joe Locke recalled seeing Charlie Cox with his son. The boy was a big Daredevil fan and was actually wearing a Daredevil t-shirt! Seeing his dad in the Daredevil costume is common for him, but it’s also sparked an early interest in other Marvel movies and shows.

Charlie Cox’s Daredevil suit has consistently gotten better with each appearance. He recently shared that he was surprised to see the suit updated for She-Hulk, and he found out about the changes in a really enjoyable way.

I got a call to come out to Los Angeles for a suit fitting, and I honestly thought it was just a quick check to see if my old costume still fit. So I flew out, headed to the costume department, and that’s when I saw it – a drawing of a superhero suit on the wall. I stared at it for a moment, trying to place who it belonged to, and then it hit me – it was the new Daredevil suit! I was completely surprised.

He’s happy to dress up in any costume and show it off on FaceTime, whenever he has a moment between eating and going to bed. It’s a perfect experience – absolutely no complaints!
