A prominent actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was recently queried about potentially revisiting the Marvel universe for projects like ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars’, and offered an unexpected response.
What MCU villain would be open to returning?
In a recent chat on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, I found myself reminiscing about my time as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the Russo Brothers. When they hypothetically asked if I’d consider reprising the role, I happily shared that I would be thrilled to oblige if given the opportunity.
In simpler terms, Brolin expressed his satisfaction with having worked on Deadpool 2 and hinted at his readiness to reprise the Thanos role if asked. He mentioned that any future project involving Thanos would likely be exciting, given its decade-long development and unique story arc. However, he’s unsure about what direction they might take it next.
It’s not very likely that Thanos will make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, but it’s possible he might show up in Secret Wars instead. Given the vast array of characters available, the Russo brothers could potentially bring back the famous Marvel Cinatic Universe villain for a final cameo if they chose to do so.
In this scenario, Robert Downey Jr. portrays Doctor Doom, while Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, and Paul Rudd join him. Their respective characters are Thor, Reed Richards (also known as Mr. Fantastic), Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Captain America, Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Shuri/Black Panther, and Ant-Man.
As a die-hard movie buff, here’s my take on paraphrasing the upcoming Marvel movie cast:
In this exciting new Marvel production, you’ll find me thrilled to see Wyatt Russell stepping into the role of U.S. Agent/John Walker. Tenoch Huerta will bring Namor to life, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach takes on The Thing/Ben Grimm. Simu Liu is set to embody Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh portrays Yelena Belova, and Kelsey Grammer transforms into Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast.
Lewis Pullman assumes the role of Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez becomes Joaquin Torres/Falcon, and Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm/Human Torch. David Harbour is set to captivate us as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke brings M’Baku to the screen, Hannah John-Kamen takes on Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston reprises his iconic role as Loki.
This impressive ensemble promises an action-packed, unforgettable cinematic experience that I can hardly wait for!
The movie “Avengers: Doomsday” is planned for a theater release on December 18, 2026. On the other hand, “Avengers: Secret Wars” is scheduled for release in theaters a year later, specifically on December 17, 2027.
