Avengers: Doomsday’s 4 Trailer Plan Is A Total Nightmare

Everyone’s been eagerly awaiting the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and there’s been a lot of speculation about when and where it would appear. Now, reports confirm Marvel is doing something new: they’ll release four Avengers: Doomsday trailers, but only in movie theaters, and only before screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Each trailer will play for a week.

The plan initially sounds fantastic – instead of just one preview, we’re getting four! That means four times as much potential footage, character introductions, and other exciting details. Who wouldn’t want even more reveals about the upcoming Doomsday film than expected? However, there’s a significant problem with Marvel Studios’ strategy that could make the next month very difficult for the Avengers movie.

Everyone Won’t Experience The Avengers: Doomsday’s Trailers The Same Way Now

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m a little frustrated with how they’re handling the Avengers: Doomsday trailer rollout. It feels like they’re asking a lot of us. Instead of just being able to watch the new trailer online like we usually do, we have to actually go to the movies – not just once, but four separate times! Depending on where you live, that could easily cost $80 or more just to get a peek at a few trailers. It feels a bit excessive, honestly.

Seeing these teasers isn’t easy for everyone. It takes both money and time, and even just going to see the Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer – without watching the whole movie – still requires a significant effort. Considering there are four teasers total, it’s not a simple thing to catch them all.

I’m hearing that Marvel is being really selective about who gets to see the new Avengers: Doomsday trailers officially. They’re figuring most people will want to see it once or twice, but probably not four times! Honestly, I don’t think that’s going to hurt the hype at all – if anything, it makes it feel more exclusive and special.

It’s pretty predictable what will happen with this plan. Once the trailers begin showing in theaters, recordings made by audience members will quickly appear online. While Marvel and Disney will try to remove these leaks, it’s almost certain that low-quality versions of the trailers will continue to surface.

Considering all of this, Marvel’s strategy for releasing the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday trailers seems strange. It’s more likely that fans will encounter unofficial, leaked versions before the official theatrical release. Plus, no matter where people see the trailer, there won’t be a shared viewing experience where everyone watches it at the same time.

Releasing information about Avengers: Doomsday slowly could backfire and reduce excitement. By not having a big, official online launch for the marketing campaign, Marvel is making it harder to control leaks and ensure people experience the trailers as intended. This approach could create more problems for the studio in the long run.

Since Marvel hasn’t announced when – or even if – they’ll release the four Avengers: Doomsday trailers online, this could create problems early in the movie’s marketing. The studio really needs this campaign to go smoothly, so any frustration from fans would be a bad start.
