Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Gets Record-Breaking Runtime (Report)

Recent reports suggest the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will be unusually long, potentially setting a new record. Excitement has been building for a first glimpse of the upcoming Avengers film, and insiders now say we’ll see the trailer before the end of the year. It’s expected to be shown alongside James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters.

Entertainment insider @Cryptic4KQual is sharing details about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday trailer, including how long it might be. According to this source, the first trailer for Doomsday will be the shortest initial trailer ever released for an Avengers film.

On X, @Cryptic4KQual shared that the video is just over a minute long and is meant to be a short preview, not a complete trailer.

Just to let everyone know, the trailer for ‘Doomsday’ will play before the movie Avatar. It’s only about a minute long, so it’s more of a quick preview than a complete trailer – despite what some people have said. I’m really excited to see it!

The first trailer for the original Avengers movie in 2012 was 2 minutes and 4 seconds long. Trailers for subsequent Avengers films have generally been longer. The first trailers for Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame clocked in at 2 minutes and 16 seconds, 2 minutes and 24 seconds, and 2 minutes and 25 seconds, respectively.

I’m hearing the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is going to be a lot shorter than the ones we’ve been getting lately – thankfully! What’s really interesting, though, is that it’s coming out way earlier than any previous Avengers trailer. We’re talking over a year before the movie even hits theaters, which is a really long lead time. It definitely builds the hype!

The next big Marvel movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. It’s directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, who also directed Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Notably, Robert Downey Jr. will be back, but instead of playing the hero Iron Man, he’ll be taking on the role of the main villain, Doctor Doom.

Why Is The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer So Short?

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and some might be disappointed to learn it’s expected to be very short. Viewers of Marvel Cinematic Universe films are used to trailers of a certain length, particularly for Avengers movies, so it’s surprising that Marvel Studios would choose such a brief preview for one of their biggest films ever.

There’s probably a good explanation for this. Viewers should consider the first Doomsday trailer as something entirely new for Marvel Cinematic Universe marketing – it’s unlike anything they’ve done before.

Marvel Studios appears to be starting promotion for Avengers: Doomsday much earlier than they have for any previous film. In fact, the campaign is beginning so soon that it will actually kick off before promotion for the next scheduled movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

You know, instead of trying to figure out how this first trailer stacks up against previous Avengers trailers, I think it makes more sense to compare it to something like a Star Wars trailer. That feels like a more fitting comparison, honestly.

It looks like the marketing for Doomsday is following a similar strategy to how Lucasfilm promoted Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They started with a brief, 90-second teaser about a year before the film came out, and then released a longer trailer a few months later.

Although Doomsday didn’t generate the same level of hype as The Force Awakens‘ theatrical release, Marvel might be looking to this film’s marketing strategy as a model for its future campaigns.
