Avengers Doomsday Star Walks Back Fantastic Four Vs. X-Men Fight Claims

An actor from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday has changed his stance on a potential fight between the Fantastic Four and X-Men in the film. Doomsday is a huge event for Marvel, marking the first time the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Avengers will all be part of the same story. This will finally allow fans to see the interactions they’ve wished for over the past thirty years.

Alan Cumming, known for his role as Nightcrawler, recently clarified some earlier remarks about a potential battle between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in a future Avengers movie. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Cumming talked about working with Pedro Pascal from The Fantastic Four, mentioning Pascal suffered an injury during a fight scene. When Kimmel asked if Cumming was the one Pascal was fighting, Cumming jokingly explained that he wasn’t actually fighting, but “just sort of…being.”

What really stood out to me was when Pedro injured his neck and had to leave – I was the one who accidentally caused it.

I wasn’t fighting, really. We were just acting in a scene together, and it didn’t involve any conflict on my part.

Cumming has walked back statements he made earlier about a potential battle between the X-Men and Fantastic Four. He previously told Buzzfeed UK in May 2025 that he was practicing fight choreography for his return to Marvel, jokingly saying he was “hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,” which suggested a conflict between his character, Nightcrawler, and Pedro Pascal’s character, Mr. Fantastic.

Back in July 2025, Alan Cumming and Pascal playfully hinted that Cumming might be responsible for a major leak related to the upcoming movie. While filling in as host for Jimmy Kimmel and interviewing the cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps during their promotional tour, Cumming and Pascal directly stated, “Alan and I have never been in a fight.”

Although Pascal and Cumming are in the movie, their characters haven’t appeared in any promotional materials as of early 2026. They’re joining other stars from the Fantastic Four and X-Men in what’s shaping up to be the MCU’s biggest team-up film yet, with rumors suggesting this will be the first time these two superhero groups meet on screen.

Scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, Avengers: Doomsday will be the third film in Marvel’s Phase 6 and the fifth Avengers movie to date. The film will bring together the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four in a major showdown against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. Currently, at least 29 actors are confirmed to be part of the cast.

What’s interesting is that members of both teams understand the concept of the multiverse – something very few characters in the film know at this stage. We’ve already seen Reed Richards acknowledge other universes in The Fantastic Four, and Beast, played by Kelsey Grammer, was last seen in The Marvels studying Monica Rambeau after she traveled to his universe from Earth-616.

Viewers are hoping this film will explore how different teams travel between universes and team up to battle Doom, potentially leading to many first-time character interactions. It’s unclear if recent comments from actors like Cumming are accurate, as Marvel is still keeping plot details under wraps, leaving fans wondering which of these team-ups will actually happen.
