A recent speculation about “Avengers: Doomsday” might cast doubt on whether Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be featured in the forthcoming group movie.
What is the latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
According to Daniel Richtman’s recent update, there are concerns about Marvel Studios’ “Multiverse Saga.” Richtman believes the absence of a clear main character is the reason for its struggles. His comments have left many fans intrigued as he shared an unexpected revelation.
In his recent post, Richtman points out that “Spider-Man” is not featured prominently in “Doomsday”, and hints at the possibility of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man shifting towards a more ‘street-level’ hero status, which could explain why he’s absent from big ensemble films like this one, if his role isn’t expanded later on. This revelation has left some fans taken aback, as there have been whispers for a while now about a potential change in Spider-Man’s cinematic universe role.
In the upcoming movie, a number of significant characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been verified to appear. These include Chris Hemsworth portraying Thor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby in her role as the Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright playing Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
The following characters are set to appear in the upcoming movie: Wyatt Russell plays U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta portrays Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach is cast as The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu takes on the role of Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh is Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer plays Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman portrays Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez is Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn stars as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour acts as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke plays M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen portrays Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as Loki.
In the forthcoming movie, a number of X-Men characters who previously appeared are returning, such as Charles Xavier played by Patrick Stewart, Magneto portrayed by Ian McKellen, Nightcrawler acted by Alan Cumming, Mystique enacted by Rebecca Romijn, Cyclops embodied by James Marsden, and Gambit performed by Channing Tatum.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
