Avengers: Doomsday & Dune 3’s Opening Weekend Will Be An Incredible Box Office Achievement For 1 Actor

An actor is predicted to have a very successful box office weekend with the releases of Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three. Both films are coming out on the same day later this year, a date already being called “Dunesday” by fans. For many moviegoers, it will be a thrilling opportunity to see two of the biggest films of 2026 back-to-back.

The upcoming Marvel movie, Doomsday, is set to be a massive team-up event, uniting heroes like the Avengers, Wakandans, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and X-Men against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. On a different note, Dune 3 will finish director Denis Villeneuve’s celebrated Dune trilogy, which is based on Frank Herbert’s novels.

Both movies are coming out on the same day and are expected to do well in theaters. One actor is likely to have a very strong opening weekend, and it will be interesting to see which film ultimately earns more overall.

Florence Pugh Is In Avengers: Doomsday And Dune: Part 3

I’m really excited to see Florence Pugh in both Doomsday and Dune 3! It’s great that she’s continuing to play Yelena Belova, a character I first loved in Black Widow back in 2021. And it’s cool to know that her Thunderbolts team, which we saw at the end of the 2025 movie, is carrying over into these new projects. It’s awesome to see familiar faces in these big franchises!

The Thunderbolts are joining the cast of Doomsday, which is already shaping up to be a huge film. With so many characters, it’s hard to say how prominent her role will be, but it’s sure to be fun watching her alongside the other heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In Dune 3, Florence Pugh will play Princess Irulan. Introduced in Part 2, Irulan is the emperor’s daughter and a member of the Bene Gesserit order. At the end of the second film, she agrees to marry Paul Atreides to save her father. This marriage will be a key part of the third film’s story, as Paul is still in love with Chani.

Could Both Films Earn $1 Billion?

As a huge movie fan, I’m pretty confident that Avengers: Doomsday is going to hit the $1 billion mark at the box office. Every previous Avengers film has already done that, and Infinity War and Endgame even blew past $2 billion! With such a huge cast and the fact that it’s dealing with the multiverse, Doomsday really feels like it has everything it needs to be a massive success.

While the Dune movies have been successful, neither has yet reached $1 billion in box office earnings. The first film made over $440.6 million globally, and Dune: Part Two grossed over $714.8 million. Reaching that milestone with Dune 3 could be difficult, especially since it’s based on Dune: Messiah, a story that might not appeal to a broad audience.

I was really excited at the event for the first trailer of Dune 3, and Denis Villeneuve actually said the movie will be even more action-packed than the previous ones! He hinted that the visuals and spectacle will be bigger and better. Plus, everything points to Dune: Part Three being the most successful film in the series so far – each Dune movie has actually outperformed the last, which is amazing!

It would be a huge accomplishment if two movies released on the same day each earned over $1 billion. Florence Pugh is poised for a fantastic weekend, as she stars in both films that premiere on December 18, 2026.
