Avengers Doomsday: All 8 Marvel Villains Reported to Appear

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m incredibly excited for Avengers: Doomsday, and it sounds like it’s going to be *packed* with villains! But what really has me thinking is, who will actually be the truly evil ones? Doomsday is already shaping up to have the biggest cast ever seen in a comic book movie – they’ve got stars from all the past 30 years! And with that many characters, you know we’re going to get a huge battle between good and evil, featuring a lot of returning villains from across the Marvel universe.

Eight villains – both currently active and from Marvel’s past – will appear in the MCU’s Avengers: Doomsday. The film promises to be the ultimate crossover, bringing together more than twenty heroes from around six different franchises to defend the multiverse. Beyond one particularly well-known villain, several returning antagonists will also contribute to the mayhem in this story.

Villains Who Will Definitely Be Evil in Doomsday

Doctor Doom

Currently, the only character confirmed to appear as a villain in Avengers: Doomsday is the one who gives the movie its name: Victor von Doom. While previously portrayed by Julian McMahon and Toby Kebbell, Marvel Studios has cast Robert Downey Jr. – famous for playing Tony Stark/Iron Man and leading the Infinity Saga from 2008 to 2019 – to take on this role.

Although the exact story of this movie is still a secret, whispers suggest that Downey’s character, Doom, will be driven by a deep-seated hatred for the multiverse, causing him to try and destroy it. Even if other villains appear, it’s believed that nobody will be as significant a threat as Downey when he clashes with the MCU’s heroes.

Villains Who Might Be Evil in Doomsday

Magneto

During the cast reveal for Marvel Studios’ Doomsday in March 2025, it was announced that Sir Ian McKellen will reprise his famous role as Erik Lehnsherr, also known as Magneto. McKellen originally played the powerful mutant in the first X-Men trilogy and appeared in a total of five Marvel films, with his most recent credit being 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Magneto’s loyalties have never been clear-cut. He’s been a friend to Professor X for a long time, but he firmly believes mutants are superior and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that vision. Although both Erik and Charles are central to this narrative, Doctor Doom could easily persuade Magneto to join forces with him, significantly boosting his power.

Mystique

A surprising casting choice for Doomsday was Rebecca Romijn, who Marvel fans will recognize as Raven Darkhölme, also known as Mystique. Mystique, famous for being able to change her appearance, played a key role in the first three X-Men movies. Romijn also made a brief appearance in X-Men: First Class back in 2011.

Mystique hasn’t always been on one side; she’s collaborated with both Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr several times. Although she’ll probably fight as a hero in Doomsday, she might prioritize her own goals if Magneto decides to join forces with Doom.

Loki

Loki, as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, is expected to play a key role in Avengers: Doomsday when he returns for his first appearance in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hiddleston has been playing the character – originally the God of Mischief and later the God of Stories – since Thor in 2011. The 2026 film will mark his tenth project within the MCU, as he reprises his role as the Asgardian hero.

After helping to save the multiverse, Hiddleston’s Loki has seemingly completed his journey towards redemption, now seated on a throne and maintaining the stability of the entire Sacred Timeline. Despite this progress, considering his history as a villain and the possibility of other Loki versions appearing, the established MCU character could potentially return to his villainous ways. This could even happen alongside another popular MCU veteran, Robert Downey Jr..

Villains Who Will Be Heroes in Doomsday

Ghost

Hannah John-Kamen became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, playing the character Ava Starr/Ghost, a villain who wanted to find Janet Van Dyne to fix a dangerous problem with her body at a molecular level. Once she resolved that issue, she reappeared in 2025’s Thunderbolts*, first working for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and then joining the Thunderbolts team as a hero.

As a huge Marvel fan, I’m really excited to see what happens with Ava, played by John-Kamen. It’s great that she’s shifted gears and is now working *with* the good guys as part of the New Avengers! After the reveal at the end of Thunderbolts*, she’s officially on the team. We all know her for those incredible phasing powers and her skills in a fight, and now she’s using them for something truly worthwhile. I can’t wait to see her team up with the Avengers and take on Doom – it’s going to be epic!

US Agent

Since he first appeared as John Walker in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell has played a character who walks the line between good and bad. He was originally presented as the successor to Captain America, but later continued his work as the U.S. Agent, working with Val, a role he’s also taking on in Thunderbolts*.

I’ve been following Walker’s journey, and it’s been incredible to see his transformation! After really turning things around and going through some wild experiences, he’s become a true hero. He even teamed up with the New Avengers before Avengers: Doomsday. It’s amazing how he’s left his bad guy days behind, and I’m really excited because he’s going to be a crucial player when Doom returns in the next Avengers movie!

Sentry

Lewis Pullman became part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe by portraying Robert Reynolds/Sentry, a remarkably powerful character in Marvel’s history. He’ll debut in 2025’s Thunderbolts*. Sentry’s complex personality includes several identities, including the villainous Void. As a hero with the abilities of flight and superstrength, Sentry will present significant challenges for the team in this Phase 5 movie.

Currently, Reynolds is focused on managing the Sentry and the Void, but he’s eager to leave his past as a villain behind and join the New Avengers as a true hero. Doctor Doom will undoubtedly try to exploit any weakness to unleash that darkness within Pullman’s hero, potentially creating significant conflict. This could lead to a lot of trouble from Doom’s side of the battle. It’s a tense situation.

Namor

Namor, also known as the Sub-Mariner, became one of the MCU’s villains in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. He led Talokan, an underwater kingdom. Namor is famous for his powers over water, his ability to fly, and his control over sea creatures. He was a formidable opponent, but eventually reached an agreement with Shuri and stopped his attack on Wakanda.

As a film fan, I’m really excited about Tenoch Huerta’s character! From what I understand, his Talokan leader is going to be an ally to Black Panther and the Wakandans, helping them protect the world from Doom. We don’t know all the details of his story in this movie yet, but even though he used to be a villain, he’s definitely not someone you want to mess with – he’s going to be fiercely protective. I’m eager to see how his role unfolds and how he assists Wakanda. It’s going to be a fascinating dynamic, and I’m hoping for some great action sequences. You can find more information here about the upcoming movie.

Avengers: Doomsday will be the fifth Avengers film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and the first one released since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The movie will bring together a huge group of over twenty Marvel actors, with heroes from different eras uniting to stop Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom from destroying all realities. Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
