After a 13-year wait following the first Avatar movie in 2009, the next installment, Fire and Ash, is coming to theaters soon. Singer and actress Miley Cyrus has just announced she’ll be part of the film.
The next Avatar movie will see Jake Sully and his family facing a new enemy: the Ash People, a fierce and warlike tribe. They’ve teamed up with Colonel Quaritch, the villain from the earlier films.
The upcoming film, Fire and Ash, will introduce the Wind Traders, a new tribe led by actor David Thewlis, known for his role in Harry Potter. The story will also explore how the Sully family is coping with the loss of Neteyam, their oldest son.
Cyrus will take part by recording an original song for the movie.

Each of the Avatar films has included a unique, original song. The first movie featured “I See You” by Leona Lewis, and “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” by The Weeknd was released with Way of Water. Miley Cyrus recently announced on Instagram that she’s recording a new song, titled “Dream As One,” for the upcoming film, Fire and Ash, and shared its personal meaning to her.
Miley Cyrus shared that she’s thrilled to contribute an original song to ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender: Fire and Ash,’ co-written with Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. She explained the project is especially meaningful to her because she’s personally experienced loss and rebuilding. Cyrus thanked director Jim for letting her channel that experience into music, and expressed how much the film’s messages of togetherness, recovery, and love mean to her. She called being a part of the ‘Avatar’ world a dream fulfilled.
After hearing a short preview of her new song, many Instagram users are predicting Miley Cyrus could be a serious contender for an Oscar. We’ll find out if they’re right when the nominations for the 2026 Oscars are announced on January 22nd.
