Avatar 3: Old & New Villains Tease an Alliance in Fire and Ash Clip

20th Century Studios has released a new video for Avatar: Fire and Ash, the next film in James Cameron’s popular Avatar series. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 19, 2025.

After the war against the RDA and the loss of their firstborn son, Jake Sully and Neytiri now face a new danger on Pandora. A fierce Na’vi tribe called the Ash People, led by the cruel Varang, threatens their home. Jake’s family will be forced to fight to survive and protect Pandora, testing their strength and courage like never before.

What happens in the new Avatar 3 clip?

The video features a scene where Stephen Lang’s character, Quaritch, attempts to form an alliance with Oona Chaplin’s Varang. He offers her resources and weaponry to aid her in battling Eywa and her people. The clip also hints at the dynamic between these two villains, suggesting Varang believes she’s finally met someone on her level.

James Cameron returns as director and producer for “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” this time co-writing the script with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The film features familiar faces like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, alongside new cast members including Kate Winslet and Edie Falco. Like its predecessor from 2022, this third movie is expected to run for over three hours. The film’s creative team includes Russell Carpenter (cinematography), Vanessa Cole (set decoration), Deborah L. Scott (costume design), Dylan Cole (production design), and Simon Franglen (composer).

Cameron recently mentioned that the next film will feature new cultures, distinct from those seen previously. He described a group called the ‘Ash People’ who will embody the element of fire. He also wants to present the Na’vi in a more complex light, as the films have largely focused on their positive qualities so far.
