Avatar 2 Rerelease Comes With Surprising Extras Before Fire and Ash

Fans attending the special showings of *Avatar 2* will get an exclusive first look at the next *Avatar* film, *Avatar: Fire and Ash*. James Cameron’s *Avatar: The Way of Water* is returning to cinemas for a week beginning October 3, 2025.

20th Century Studios is showing short previews of the upcoming movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash, when Avatar: The Way of Water returns to theaters. But viewers won’t see all the previews in one visit. Each showing will feature just one of the three clips, so fans will need to go to multiple screenings to see them all.

The 2022 film has a 76% ‘Certified Fresh’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 453 critic reviews. It was a huge success in theaters, becoming the third highest-grossing movie ever with worldwide earnings of more than $2.3 billion.

James Cameron returns as director for *Avatar: Fire and Ash*, and he also co-wrote the script with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The film features returning cast members like Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, alongside new faces including Kate Winslet and Edie Falco. Cameron has stated that the new movie will delve into new Na’vi cultures, specifically a group called the ‘Ash People,’ and will offer a more complex look at the Na’vi, showing sides of them that haven’t been seen before.

Fires and Ash debuts in theaters on December 19, 2025.
